POOR SNOW SCUTTLES WORLD CUP AERIALS OPENER IN AUSTRALIA
Two USA events set for Deer Valley, Utah and Lake Placid, N.Y.
MOUNT BULLER, Australia (Aug. 7) - Organizers of what had been scheduled to be the opening World Cup aerials event of the 2007 announced Monday the competitions, set for Sept. 2-3 at Mount Buller, have been canceled because of poor snow conditions.
"Cancellation is due to snow pack being less than what is required to build a world-class World Cup jump site," Buller Ski Lifts, the event organizer, said a statement. The normal date for a final decision would be Aug. 21, but officials said last week they would make a final decision by Monday.
With Buller's cancellation, the World Cup schedule will open Dec. 9-10 with two aerials events at a site to be announced in China. The first moguls contest is scheduled for Dec. 14 at the traditional moguls site - Tignes, France. Two events are scheduled for the USA - Jan. 11-13 (moguls, aerials, dual moguls) at Deer Valley, Utah, and Jan. 18-20 (two aerials plus moguls) in Lake Placid, N.Y.

The world’s top ski racers are set to arrive at Treble Cone later this week, to begin their southern hemisphere training. The athletes – who among them won an impressive 15 medals at the Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy earlier this year – are from the Austrian, Swedish, Norwegian and British national teams.
The teams will train in the early morning on the new and improved Big Skite trail. And there’s a chance to watch the Olympic skiers in action by taking part in a guided tour of the training courses in the morning. Click here for more details.

We’ve had a week of mixed weather up here at Treble Cone, with blue skies giving way to snow and high winds and back to beautiful blue skies again.
However, we received 15-20cm of fresh snow across the mountain early this week, which gives us the perfect snow conditions for all the exciting clinics, races, events and promotions we’ve got coming up this week. Read on for more details…..

REVIEW - FIS Entry Level Race
Treble Cone made history last weekend by hosting the first ever Entry League FIS downhill event to be held in New Zealand. We had 49 participants from across the globe taking part in the Slalom and Giant Slalom events on Saturday and Sunday on our new, super-wide Big Skite trail.
Even inclement weather couldn’t dampen the spirits of those taking part in the event, which was deemed to be a massive success.
