The first Columbia Ride Week – A Huge Success!
Throughout the week and despite the weather not always being perfect,
eight teams of riders taking part in the Columbia Ride Week captured some
amazing images in the Courchevel ski area.
After 12 years, the traditional Courchevel freeride event was transformed
into The Columbia Ride Week. A new concept was unveiled this year based
on a ski movie competition. For the first time, eight team from Japan right
across to Sweden via Austria, Switzerland and also Portugal competed!
From the 5th to the 10th of March, the riders benefited from a huge playing
field: The Courchevel ski area. Restricted to strict specifications, each team
were challenged to create a movie lasting seven minutes that was
presented at the end of the week in front of professional judges.
In the Croisette hall, last Friday, a large audience came to support the
riders and see the fruits of their labour. All appreciated the riders actions
and exploits throughout the movies in high sensations. The athletes
invested a lot of time and energy into the competition taking it seriously
and professionally. The movies each had great storyline set behind a
fantastic backdrop infused with a great sense of humour.
The winning team from Japan returned home with 5500 euros, which was
especially amazing since they started the week without any equipment,
which was lost during the flights transfer!
Rankings for the 1st Columbia Ride Week :
