Treble Cone - New Zealand

The season got off to a sunny start at Treble Cone yesterday, as hundreds of happy skiers and snowboarders welcomed in winter 2006. Excellent snow conditions in the Main and Saddle Basin made for some fantastic skiing and boarding, while lunch on the deck became a festive affair thanks to Chandon bubbles and some great entertainment from the Lucky Legs Trio jazz band. USSA News
Mike Jankowski has been named U.S. Snowboarding Head Halfpipe Coach following the retirement of Bud Keene, announced U.S. Snowboarding Program Director Jeremy Forster. Former snowboard World champion Rick Bower will join Jankowski as assistant halfpipe coach for U.S. Snowboarding. The pair will lead their first official camp of the summer this week at Windells in Mt. Hood, Ore. “With Mike taking over as head halfpipe coach, I only see more positive growth for the program. He is a great coach, and it’s the perfect transition for him to become leader of the halfpipe crew,” said Forster. "Also, having Rick join our program is huge. He was part of our U.S. Snowboarding program as a rider and just recently was part of the 2006 U.S. Olympic halfpipe coaching staff in Torino. He is a former World halfpipe champion and a well respected coach." Us Ski Snowboard Fernie Summer
