My Switzerland
Customs, Market This is considered the biggest Christmas market in Switzerland, with roughly 120 vendors displaying their wares in the Obere and Untere Gasse alleys, on Ochsenplatz, Kornplatz and Martinsplatz squares. As in earlier years, the Chur old town association sticks to its traditional concept, allowing only handcrafted Advent and Christmas objects from the region for sale. The festive event is further enhanced with various musical presentations. The market takes place in the alleyways and squares of the old town of Chur and lasts on Friday from 14.00 to 21.00 hours, on Saturday from 10.00 to 16.00 hours. www.churtourismus.ch

Silverton Co.
Silverton Mountain will open for the winter season. There will initially be 7 ski runs open with several more slated to open each day throughout the weekend. Due to the snow storm that dropped 30” of new snow last week, above 10, 400'(our base area elevation) you will still find light powder snow. Brand new for 2006-2007 are expanded unguided ski options from- Thanksgiving through Jan 14, and -from April 5 through April 29. Guided only skiing will occur Jan 18th through April 1 (although guides are available all season).

At 1,819 acres Silverton now surpasses Telluride in size and is one of largest ski areas in Colorado. The runs to be open for opening day include Cabin, Riff, Raff, Colorado, Tiger Claw, Concussion, and Tiger 1-5. Ropedeedope, Mandatory, Splitski, and Waterfall should open throughout the weekend for some fun skiing and boarding.

Over 10 Inches of Snow Fell Thanksgiving Day Weekend
Mother Nature finally decided to pay Purgatory Mountain a visit, and boy did she come ready to play!

Last week, a Thanksgiving day storm dumped more than 10 inches of snow on the resort and brought much needed cold temperatures into the area. The forecast is calling for continued cold temperatures and a chance of snow moving into the area again midweek.
