Peruvian Gulch Chairlift
By fall of 2006, Snowbird’s original Peruvian lift will be taken out and replaced with a new high-speed quad. While the base will stay near the original base shack, the top station will be located below the steepest Chip’s Run pitch, an approximately 2,600-vertical-foot rise. At the top of the lift, a 600 foot tunnel with a magic carpet will provide access to Mineral Basin. This lift will open up more intermediate terrain for skiers and snowboarders. Timeline: Start tunnel construction and top shack earthwork summer 2005, finish grading for bottom shack and remove old Peruvian lift during summer 2006 with an expected completion date in the fall of 2006.

Panorama Mountain Village, B.C. — The world champion Austrian men, along with a multitude of the world’s best ski teams will be training on the slopes of Panorama Mountain Village, beginning Friday, Nov. 4. Notably, this is the busiest pre-season training time Panorama has seen in its 13 years of hosting international racers.
The following international alpine ski teams will be honing their skills at Panorama, in preparation for the World Cup circuit and the 2006 Winter Olympic games in Torino, Italy:
Canadian men and women, including; Thomas Grandi, Eric Guay and B.C. skiers Emily Brydon and Alison Forsythe Austrian men
Chilean men and women v German men
Norwegian men
Slovenian women
Swedish men and women
“International teams return to Panorama for many reasons. The most important are easy to identify - snow, terrain and people. Although we offer great lodging steps away from their hill space and an environment that is peaceful and respectful, if we did not have excellent, reliable, early season snow conditions these elite athletes would not be here,” confirmed Panorama’s General Manager, Mark Woodburn.
Alpine Canada named Panorama as a National Alpine Training Centre in 2003, and this partnership between Panorama and the Canadian Alpine Ski Team continues to grow.
The combination of wide, steep runs, and the finely-tuned snow-making abilities that Panorama offers create the perfect conditions in the pre-season for teams training in Super G, Giant Slalom, Slalom and some aspects of Down Hill.
Panorama Mountain Village, located in the Purcell Mountains, has one of the largest vertical descents in North America. Quad chairlifts give access to the summit and over 100 trails, including former Heli-Ski terrain in Taynton Bowl.
