Snowflake with the Sun Peaks Snow Report for Friday January 20, 2006 at 5:30 am.
.
We had 6 cm of new snow overnight, and all of it fluffy light champagne powder! What a great way to start your Friday, and a fantastic kick off for our 8th Annual Icewine festival going on all weekend! I’m not sure how many ways I can say this- the snow just keeps getting better and better and you REALLY need to be here!
.
Our base is pumped up and gorgeous at 139cm and we are 100% open. Covered in fresh powder, with more on the way.
.
The temperature is currently - 4C in the Village, at Mid-mountain -9C, and –9C at the Top of the World. The winds are light and right now the sky is puking fresh pow. .
The forecast for today is calling for cloudy skies with snow up to 6cm by noon. Definitely a day to skip the java and let an icy cold powder shot in the face wake you up.
All our major lifts are spinning today, the West Bowl T-Bar will be open all weekend, and all 3 mountains are 100% wide open. 117/117 runs open and waiting for you! And did I mention the FRESH POWDER?!
TOD MOUNTAIN – Where it all began, the original and classic Sun Peaks mountain. Check out Tod’s open bowls and challenging terrain, as well as The 5-Mile, our signature top-to-bottom family-friendly green run.
SUNDANCE MOUNTAIN – The first mountain to open and the last to close each day. Home to our award-winning groomed runs, terrain park, half-pipe, ski school learning area and Tube Time park.
MT. MORRISEY – Sun Peaks’ third and newest mountain offers an award winning layout of open glades, cruising style runs and black diamond steeps, with more steeps to come in the future. Morrisey’s northerly exposure also keeps the snow light and dry and ensures that it lingers well into the spring each year.
