The conditions at Wildcat have been exceeding expectations!
On Sunday, Feb. 12th, the Notch did receive a fresh blanket of new snow, a couple of inches! While the Cat may not have scored as much snowfall from this storm as some points south, it just doesn't really matter! The skiing & riding has been really sweet here at the Cat, and we've been receiving one report after another from skiers who cannot believe just how good it really is! This whole week we CRANKED out the snow, and opened Black Cat and Starr Line, straight down the gizzard! Folks are having a ball! And the guns are still cranking away! The grooming at the Cat has been phenomenal as well, another source of constant positive feedback this season! So please don't be talked into being a couch potato by meteorological pessimists! Val - New chairlift for 2 persons (1200 p/h) serve as connection between Vallunga and Dantercëppies v Easier connection slope from the "Comici" hut on Piz Sella to the "Tramans" - chairlift that continues until Monte Pana. This new slope is an easier alternative to the present connection-slope from Piz Sella over Ciampinoi.

Les Arcs - France

80 of the world's top freeskiers from 10 countries will be in Les Arc, France, for the seventh staging of The North Face Freeride Les Arcs.
The only French competition in the IFSA (International Freeskiing Association) Tour will be staged on the famous slopes of the Aiguille Rouge.
The contest kicks off on Monday, February 27th with selections on the Robert Blanc slope followed by a speed flying and paragliding demonstration, with an opening party in the evening. The Robert Blanc slope has a 600m vertical from 2700m down to 2100m.
On Tuesday, February 28th, pros and qualified skiers run on the Arandelières Slope which starts from 3226m at the summit of Les arcs and descends to 2670m. There's a Big party at Arc 1950 in the evening.
Wednesday, March 1st sees the Final, again on the Arandelières slope with a Prize ceremony at Arc 1950 and The North Face party and concert at Arc 1800.
The riders are judged on five criteria by the 6 IFSA International judges with each judge giving five marks in technique, consistent aggressiveness throughout the descent, control, fluidity and choice of line.

Oak Valley -Korea, Korea’s major private golf resorts has announced it will be adding nine ski slopes over the next 12 months, with an official ski area opening planned for December next year. The ski area, located about an hour’s drive east from capital Seoul, will be designed by US firm Snow Engineering and include what will be the country’s longest run at 1.6km (one mile). There will be three beginner, four intermediate and two expert graded trails, served by a high speed, high capacity lift. Trails of all abilities will start and end at the same points, allowing skiers of different abilities to use the slopes together. This is is not the norm in Korea where different terrain levels are usually split in to separate areas of the mountain. .S. SNOWBOARDER HALE INJURED, WILL NOT COMPETE IN SBX BARDONECCHIA, Italy (Feb. 14) - U.S. snowboarder Jayson Hale (Sugar Bowl, CA) was injured during snowboardcross training Tuesday in Bardonecchia.
On the second day of official snowboardcross training in Bardonecchia, Hale missed his landing coming off the "Wu Tang" jump toward the end of the course and sustained a right knee injury. From Bardonecchia, he was transported to Sestriere for further evaluation and an MRI. "Jayson suffered a torn ACL on his right knee and will be unable to compete in Olympic competition," stated Dr. Jim Sterling, Chief Medical Officer for the 2006 U.S. Olympic Team. "He has significant bone bruising around that area as well. However, he is comfortable and stable. He is still undecided on whether he wants to remain here in Italy or return home, but for now he is living in the Olympic Village in Bardonecchia." Hale was taking a solo training run on the course and caught too much air coming off the quarterpipe jump known as a "Wu Tang," just prior to the course's final corner. The U.S. Olympic Committee along with U.S. Ski and Snowboard will submit to TOROC and IOC officials a Late Athlete Replacement Form for Graham Watanabe (Sun Valley, ID) as a possible replacement for Hale.
