Mammoth is Open
Mammoth is open for the
season! Minutes ago Broadway Express was fired up and Woolly led the way
to the top of Broadway as the first tracks were laid to what will be
another epic Mammoth season.Temperatures dropped into the 20's last night
allowing us to begin making snow around 2 AM. With the ability to make
snow throughout the night, we now have a 6 to 12 inch base of man-made,
machine-groomed snow! Currently the temperatures are in the low 30's
with clear skies and strong winds. If you are planning to join us for
Opening Weekend, please note that we plan to only operate Broadway Express
with skiing on Broadway. Please ski and ride with caution - early
season obstacles and bare spots do exist and there is limited snow
coverage. We are beginning to blow snow on Sesame Street, but until further
notice, we will not have any beginner terrain. The Unbound Crew has been
out setting up terrain features, which will include three small boxes
at the top of Broadway and a box and lift tower on lower Broadway.Come
join us this weekend for the Opening Celebration with a Champagne Toast
and Live Music on Saturday Nov.11. Festivities kick off at 11 AM with
free hot dogs at 2 PM.

Lake Louise Mountain Resort will be opening for the 2006-2007 winter season on Saturday, November 11.
The lifts will start running at 9am, with the Glacier Express Quad Chair. On Saturday, the resort is also planning to open the Sunny T-Bar for access to the beginner area. The Top of the World 6-Pack Chair and Summit Platter are also scheduled to open Saturday, much earlier than typical seasons.
The alpine area has a 55-60cm settled snowpack, and snowmaking efforts all over the mountain are providing good coverage from top to bottom. There has been over 30cm of new snow in the past 24 hours, with more predicted in the short-term forecast. Skiers and riders are advised that advanced terrain will be open in the alpine area, and early season conditions do exist.

VANCOUVER 2010: IOC Project Review Comes To A Close
10 November 2006
An IOC delegation, led by the Chairman of the IOC’s Coordination Commission for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, René Fasel, completed a successful two-day project review of the Vancouver Games this week. The project review group, which also included members of the IOC administration and IOC experts, received updates on the progress that the Vancouver 2010 Organising Committee (VANOC) has made since the last project review visit that followed the Torino 2006 debrief held in Vancouver this July.
Guidance And Assessment
The IOC group spent the two days of meetings, held at the VANOC offices, looking at the progress made by the local organisers in different Games-related fields, including areas as diverse as athlete accommodation, sport, marketing and press operations. The reports from the Vancouver 2010 management team gave the IOC delegation the opportunity to hear and assess first-hand the continuing progress of the Vancouver 2010 project. It also allowed the members of the review group to offer VANOC their guidance on any issues arising since the previous visit of the Coordination Commission.
Executive Project Review
Project reviews allow the chairmen of the different IOC Coordination Commissions, along with members of the IOC administration and, where necessary, other Coordination Commission members and IOC experts, to be updated on the respective Olympic Games projects in between the full visits of the Coordination Commission. The full Commission visits once a year until four years before the Games, and then twice a year until the Games.
Vancouver 2010
Vancouver will host the XXI Olympic Winter Games from 12 to 28 February 2010, with the mountain events taking place in Whistler. Vancouver and Whistler will also host the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games from 12 to 21 March 2010.
