Ski New Hampshire

April is approaching, so we wanted to encourage you to get in at least one more day on snow here in New Hampshire. We plan to have skiing and riding right through mid-April!
After a slow start it's been a fun winter with several big storms and great weather from mid-January on. We hope you have time to get out once more and enjoy all the snow we have left along with the nice comfortable weather!
Ski Area Closing Dates
Seven of our eighteen downhill ski areas have shut their lifts and after this weekend we will see at least another three do the same. There isn't much time left if you're looking to get out on the slopes or cross country trails one more time. We have all the ski area closing dates listed on our snow report

*** SUN VALLEY, ID….. The Sun Valley Company last week received the first commercial retrofit efficiency incentive through Idaho Power’s new Easy Upgrades program, for installing energy saving lighting at one of its vehicle maintenance facilities.
An incentive of $1,050 was awarded to the company for recently completing a conversion from metal halide lighting to T5 high output fluorescent fixtures. “It’s a milestone for our new retrofit program,” said Curt Nichols, Idaho Power program specialist. “We hope that this will be the first of many incentive payments to our commercial customers for their energy-saving actions through this new program.”
“This is just the beginning of a continuing program to replace all of Sun Valley Resort’s existing lighting to energy efficient lighting fixtures,” Jack Sibbach, Director of Marketing , said.
Idaho Power estimates that the new energy-efficient lighting could help reduce the facility’s annual electric bill by nearly $800 per year.
The Easy Upgrades program offers incentives for energy-saving commercial retrofits that reduce the electric load for lighting, cooling, motors, and more in existing buildings.

Hlíðarfjall - Iceland
The ski slopes of Hlíðarfjall are a paradise for skiers; and if you are staying in Akureyri they are right on your doorstep. The environment is of the best and the ski lifts can carry 2930 persons per hour to the slopes above. The difference in altitude from lowest point to highest is about 500 meters. The Ski Centre was built up during the years 1955-1964 but formal operations began in 1962. The ski lodge stands at a height of 506 meters above sea level and can provide sleeping accommodation in twin rooms for 22 persons, besides having a communal sleeping area which can take 70 persons. The ski hut Strýta lies at an altitude of 700 meters above sea level and has a shop and toilet facilities for the use of visitors to Hlíðarfjall
The new ski lift, which has been given the name Fjarkinn, is the pride of the Hlíðarfjall Ski Centre. It is 1000 meters long and carries 4 persons per seat. Fjarkinn replaced the oldest ski lift in the country and its capacity is many times that of its predecessor; 2000 persons an hour instead of a mere 450. It is now but a 61/2 minute ride to Strýta!! www.hlidarfjall.is
