US SKI TEAM
TARVISIO, Italy (March 3) - In an improbable scenario, Julia Mancuso (Olympic Valley, CA) finished third Sunday in a super G behind World Cup SG champion Renate Goetschl of Austria - pushing the two into a tie for the overall points lead.
WCSN.com will broadcast same-day video streaming from Tarvisio at 5 p.m. ET.
Goetschl, who was handed the super G title when Lindsey Kildow (Vail, CO) decided to rest an ailing knee injury and skip the last month of the season, won in 1:18.66. Austrian Nicole Hosp was second (1:19.67) and Mancuso third (1:19.88) over the 1.9K course.
Stacey Cook (Mammoth Mountain, CA), starting 33rd, zipped into sixth place for easily the best World Cup super G performance of her career while Kaylin Richardson (Edina, MN) was 11th after starting 36th and Libby Ludlow (Bellevue, WA) 18th.
Mancuso and Goetschl pulled past Austrian Marlies Schild in the overall points tally - each with 1,199 points as six races remain. It's believed to be the first time a U.S. woman has led the points since Tamara McKinney won the World Cup title in 1983; after two races in the 1993 season, new U.S. National Ski Hall of Fame member Julie Parisien was second, one point behind Pernilla Wiberg of Sweden.
It was the third podium of the weekend for Mancuso who was second Friday in a super combined, won Saturday's downhill - and dedicated her fourth victory of the season to her late great-grandmother, who was being buried Saturday - and then third Sunday.
The women, who were completing the first World Cup visit to Tarvisio, head next to Zwiesel, Germany, for a giant slalom and slalom before World Cup Finals March 14-18 in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.

Beerman Wins 2nd Revolution Tour Pipe
Waker takes men's contest at Okemo
OKEMO, Vt. (March 3) - Elizabeth Beerman (Weston, VT) won her second Chevrolet Revolution Tour halfpipe of the season Saturday leading two previous tour winners onto the podium as Brooke Shaw (Bantam, CT) and Kaitlyn Farrington (Bellevue, ID) finished 2-3.
Beerman was also the halfpipe winner at Mt. Bachelor, OR, while Shaw has now earned her fifth consecutive Revolution tour podium following a win in Friday's snowboardcross event. Farrington was in the top-3 in both halfpipe and slopestyle from Copper Mountain, CO and Mt. Bachelor tour stops.
Capturing the men's victory was Chris Waker (Manchester Center, VT) followed by Skyler Thomas (Chester, VT) and Brennen Swanson (Stillwater, MN).
"It was a great day, sunny conditions and a great field," said U.S. Snowboarding Program Manager Abbi Nyberg, who organizes the Revolution Tour. "The girls were spinning back-to-back fives and Brooke Shaw was stepping it up with one of biggest fives we have seen all year - good riding and the progression continues at the Revolution Tour!"
Nyberg also thanked the Okemo, where Olympic gold medalist Hannah Teter (Belmont, VT) grew up riding, for putting together a great halfpipe. The Revolution Tour concludes Sunday with slopestyle before taking a three-month break until the final event set for June 21-22 at Mt. Hood, OR.
As a two-star event on the Ticket to Ride World Snowboard Tour (TTR), the largest culmination of independent freestyle events across the globe, top finishers will also receive points toward the overall TTR world title.
Based on results from both the Revolution Tour and the U.S. Snowboarding Race to the Cup, U.S. Snowboarding will name the 2007 Junior World Championships team later in the week. The champs are set for April 11-13 in Bad Gastein, Austria.
Up next for U.S. Snowboarding is the State Farm U.S. Snowboard Cup beginning Thursday in Lake Placid, NY, where numerous riders earned starting spots through the Chevrolet Revolution Tour.

SnowBird
Snowbird, Utah – Winter recently kicked into high gear at Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort with over 116 inches of snowfall since Feb. 10, 2007, and over 70 inches of snowfall in the past seven days.
In the past week storms deposited nearly six feet of snow, which brought the season-to-date snowfall total to 278 inches and the mid-mountain base to 107 inches. Snowbird has averaged nearly six inches of snowfall a day since Feb. 10, and skiers and riders were treated to an average of over 10 inches a day for seven days straight thanks to the 70 inches of snow that fell in the last week.
Snowbird averages 500 inches of snowfall per year and March statistically is the snowiest month in Little Cottonwood Canyon.
The world’s best big mountain skiers will push their limits on Snowbird’s steep terrain during the 10th Annual Subaru U.S. Freeskiing Nationals March 7-11, 2007. The event will take place on various venues in Snowbird's Peruvian Gulch, likely including multiple days on different faces of Mt. Baldy .
Live shots of the current storm’s snow accumulation can be seen using Snowbird’s SnowCam
