GIRDWOOD, AK – April 19, 2007 –Spring Carnival at Alyeska Resort is the celebration of snow, music, and good old fashion family fun with 30 years of history in Alaska. The event is a tradition in Girdwood and provides a weekends worth of entertainment centered on the 30th annual Subway Slush Cup.
The events kick off Saturday, April 21 at 11:00 am and the fun continues through Sunday, April 22. Some of the traditional activities include; Kids Zone, Ice Cream Shop Little Tikes Race, Coast Mountain Bike Slalom, Arctic Airwalkers Paragliding Exhibition, Dummy Race, Pepsi Bar-B-Que, Girdwood Volunteer Fire Department Race, Human Dog Sled Race, 5th Annual Idiotswimacross, live music from Top Secret, and your favorite radio announcers from KWHL 106.5, all culminating with the 30th Annual Subway Slush Cup.
“Spring Carnival is an Alyeska tradition,” explains Larry Daniels, Alyeska Resort Ski Area General Manager. “An event like this brings people from all across Alaska to enjoy the end of winter with good old fashioned fun.”
Sunday, April 22 is highlighted by the 30th annual Subway Slush Cup, located at the bottom of Mount Alyeska off the deck of the Sitzmark Bar & Grill. The Slush Cup is a 100’ man-made pool of water that 50 lucky skiers and snowboarders in costume will attempt to traverse. Competitors will be drawn at random on the Sitzmark deck at 2:30 pm, the Subway Slush Cup will start at 4:00 pm. Making it over the slush cup is only half the battle. Competitors will also be judged on costume, air, style and crowd appeal. The grand prize for the person who scores the most overall points is a 2007-2008 ski/snowboard season pass to Alyeska Resort.
Friday and Saturday night enjoy live music by Top Secret at the Sitzmark Bar & Grill. Saturday night come for the KWHL, 106.5 party and enter to win great prizes. The Sitzmark Bar & Grill is open to adults ages 21 and over. Bands will start at 10:00 pm both nights.

CHECK OUT THE NEW OPERATIONAL SCHEDULE Meadows is open daily through April 22, then weekends April 28-29 and May 5-6. The U.S. Snowboard Team will train at Meadows May 8-13 and the resort will be open to the public those days. Then Meadows will operate weekends and Memorial Day all the way into June so long as you meet the May Challenge (4,000 skier visits the previous weekend) and the weather and snow conditions allow.
