Cardrona - NZ
NOKIA Snowboard FIS World Cup
Spring Break in the Snow
Snowmobile and FMX Big Air, Salmonella Dub DJ Sound System, ski and snowboard Half Pipe, Slopestyle and Skier or Boarder X... it's the most entertaining three days at Cardrona. From Sunday 2 September to Tuesday 4 September Cardrona turns into a snow sports exhibition and snow party zone!
Chris Brown is coming all the way from the States with a special snowmobile. Last year he wowed the crowd with 20 metre big airs, jumping a cabin and going up and down super steep slopes. This year he plans to go even bigger.
“I’ve brought a special freestyle snowmobile over from the States that is extremely powerful but also has a shorter track so I can get lots more movement in the air”, says Brown.
A snow based landing and ramp are being constructed. The jump itself will be 20-25 metres in length and Brown will being doing tricks 12 metres into the air. The FMX guys will use the same landing.
Luke Smith, New Zealand’s top freestyle FMX rider, will be competing in the FMX Big Air on his motorbike. Luke performs around the world with the Crusty Demons and is one of the few riders in the world who can do a backflip - something Chris will be looking at doing at Cardrona.
The Big Air above will start at 12.30pm to the tunes of Salmonella Dub DJ Sound System.
The band is launching its new album and Cardrona skiers and riders will be the first to hear these new tracks.
And last but not least is the ski and board competition. Sunday is Skier and Boarder X, Monday is Half Pipe, and Tuesday is the Slopestyle. More than $45,000 of prize money attracts Olympic and X Games athletes from around the world. Indeed gold medalists won two of the disciplines last year.

Grouse B.C. - Summer Event
Grouse Mountain and partners of the Grouse Grind Mountain Run are actively urging participants to think about clean air. As the official charitable event recipient, the BC Lung Association has an inherent interest in insuring that the air we breathe is clear and clean. As part of our ongoing sustainability vision, Grouse Mountain has enlisted the services of ERA (Ecosystem Restoration Associates) to help us make the BMO Grouse Grind Mountain Run an EcoNeutral™ event. We have calculated the carbon footprint for the event and, in addition to our usual stewardship efforts, we have neutralized this footprint with ERA's EcoNeutral™ offsets. Finally, Oxia will be on hand with samples of personal oxygen canisters to reinforce the undeniable benefits of pure, clean air.
