The mountain is looking great with over 200 inches of natural snowfall this season! 109 trails will be open with temps in the upper 20's and 10 lifts scheduled to open, winds and weather permitting. Groomers will be canvassing the slopes tonight smoothing out 53 runs of our excellent packed powder conditions. Come see the races and enjoy some of your own turns on our world-class terrain!

With 200 inches of snow already this season, the 20th Annual Bud Light Reggae Festival is shaping up to be one of our best ever.

HEAVENLY BLOWS OUT SPRING WITH DEEP SNOW AND SPRING LOADED ’08,
THE WEST COAST ’S BIGGEST ON-MOUNTAIN SPRING BREAK PARTY

Heavenly and The South Shore of Lake Tahoe will be the Hottest Spot for Spring Events

Heavenly Mountain Resort, Calif./ Nev . – March 22, 2008 – Long known for its deep snow pack and ideal weather, Lake Tahoe has always been a top destination for Spring snow enthusiasts. Heavenly Mountain Resort announced its Spring Loaded ’08 line up today, jam-packed with live music, South Shore ’s one-of-a-kind nightlife, the SouthShore Soldiers Camps, the JackPot Rail Jam series, and classic events such as the Gunbarrel 25 hosted by free skiing legend Glen Plake and the World Pond Skimming Championships of Tahoe!

“Spring is my favorite time of the year; the mountains are full of snow and the sun is high in the sky,” said Tahoe local and Heavenly Ski.E.O. Glen Plake. “Although the calendar may say it’s spring ski season is far from over. Heavenly has plenty of things going on to take advantage of these great days ahead of us; ski you here!”

Spring Loaded ’08 kicked off March 17 with the first of two sessions of the SouthShore Soldiers Ski and Snowboard Camp at High Roller Terrain Park where campers “ride with the pros, learn from the pros, and party with the pros,” followed by a mechanical bullriding event hosted at the private SouthShore Soldiers Lounge. Veteran professional snowboarder and Tahoe local Jimmy Halopoff dedicated this camp to providing an exciting on-hill environment where the campers get personalized instruction from top pros and coaches in the private Soldiers Terrain Park. Off the snow, there is plenty of entertainment at nightly parties where guests live it up with some of the best professional skiers and snowboarders in the world. From the bowling party to the all-night party at VEX Nightclub, there is never a dull moment.

Heavenly will host the JackPot Rail Jam series March 22 & 29, with finals to be held on April 12. All the competitions take place at the base of World Cup. A live DJ, technical set-up and bleachers make this event exciting for both competitors and spectators. Tricks will be evaluated by judges and top competitors in four categories will receive cash and swag; there will also be a cash prize for best overall trick.

Don’t miss out on fun-in-the-sun at the annual World Pond Skimming Championships of Tahoe on March 30. Costumes are recommended and style is required as gutsy participants attempt to ski or snowboard across a pond of slushy, frigid water. The event will be held at the top of the Heavenly Gondola next to the Adventure Peak activities area, making it accessible to sightseers as well as skiers and riders.

Hard-core mogul maniacs are invited to challenge freestyle superstar and South Lake Tahoe legend Glen Plake in the annual Gunbarrel 25 competition on April 5. This marathon mogul event dares entrants to complete 25 laps over 1,800 feet of vertical on Heavenly’s world-famous Gunbarrel run (that’s 45,000 vertical feet of moguls!). Winners for time and endurance from each of the five categories (top male, female, boy, girl and other) will be rewarded with a commemorative belt buckle and pin. The overall top finishers will get their names engraved on the Shotgun Trophy displayed in the Cal Bar. All entrants will receive an event T-shirt and an invitation to the post-event pasta feed in the Cal Bar at the California Lodge. Anyone who completes the 25 laps will receive a commemorative pin. Registration for the event is still available on-line at www.skiheavenly.com and is open to the first 125 entrants.

After a month of nights out with the Heavenly Angels, live shows at the Cal Bar, parties at Cabo Wabo, and thousands of fish tacos at Riva Grill, Spring Loaded ’08 concludes April 12 with the JackPot Rail Jam finals; an invite-only event that will include the top competitors from the previous JackPot Rail Jam events.
