Colorado Snow
As March is typically the state's snowiest month, guests will enjoy plenty of powder. But keep in mind that the state also boasts 300 days of sunshine every year, providing perfect conditions for making turns in minimal layers.
Not only is springtime in Colorado full of sunshine and snow, but it is also packed with concerts, contests, camps and more. Boredom is non-existant in ski country thanks to events like Monarch Mountain's Kayaks on Snow Boatercross, Steamboat's Free Concert Series, and the Burton Learn to Ride Women's Camp at Winter Park.
With a full event calendar and plenty of snow, guests need only to find a money-saving deal suited for their travel and ski needs. It is with this in mind that many resorts provide packages and deals to fulfill every taste. Ski free, stay free packages at Keystone, learn to ski and ride packages at SolVista Basin, and multiday lift ticket packages at Aspen/Snowmass are just a sampling of what Colorado has to offer.

WHISTLER, BC,
Action sports photographers from around the world bidding to be included in this year’s Pro Photographer Showdown set the bar so high with their 3 minute submissions that they vaulted out of the stadium and into a higher reality entirely, according to Multimedia Events Manager for the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival, Lilli Clark.
“The quality of submissions was mind-blowing,” said Clark . “Capturing these moments of frozen time and conjuring stories with amazing pictures is a really hard job and we offer our kudos to the action sports photographers who are helping fuel the progression of these sports and documenting an ever-changing world.”
What might be pain for action sports photographers striving out in the field is pure gain for the audience, with a spectacular line-up of photographers chosen to present at the eleventh annual Pro Photographer Showdown at the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival, April 17 2008.
Hailing from Switzerland , Norway , Whistler, and Vancouver, the five selected photographers, announced today, will be transported to Whistler for a gala presentation where they will show self-curated 9 minute multimedia presentations of the best work of their careers.
The photographer judged Best in Show by a panel of the leading creative minds in the industry (including renowned photographers Paul Morrison, Eric Berger (Best of Show 1998), Aaron Chang (Best of Show 1999) and prolific writer and editor Leslie Anthony) will take home the $10,000 prize purse, with the other four finalists being awarded $1500 each.
Tickets for the gala event, which draws a 2000 strong sell-out crowd, are $20 and available online at the Festival e-store at
The TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival is produced by Watermark Communications, a Whistler marketing & communication company, and presented in partnership with Tourism Whistler and Whistler Blackcomb. Founded by W1’s Doug Perry thirteen years ago, and now the largest annual winter sports and music festival in North America , the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival is a high-octane 10 day and night showcase of the best of snowsports, music, arts and mountain life. Featuring major professional ski and snowboarding competitions, the largest free outdoor concert series in Canada , the legendary Pro Photographer and Filmmaker Showdowns, and many more unique art and cultural showcases, the Festival is the ultimate winter wrap party. HEAVENLY FLYER OPENS TO TAKE GUESTS ON A SCENIC ADVENTURE
The Longest Zip Line in the Continental U.S. Establishes
Heavenly as a Year-Round Destination
Heavenly Mountain Resort, Calif./Nev. – March 2008 - Heavenly Mountain Resort (www.skiheavenly.com) recently unveiled the Heavenly Flyer, an elevated zip line cable ride that will take guests on a scenic adventure above beautiful Lake Tahoe. The Heavenly Flyer will operate year-round, providing family fun for all seasons.
“The Heavenly Flyer is the latest in a consistent string of improvements we’ve made to the resort, giving us a year-round attraction that is unique at Lake Tahoe ,” said Blaise Carrig , Heavenly’s chief operating officer. “We think this is the most spectacular and scenic adventure ride in the world.”
The Heavenly Flyer propels riders at speeds up to 50 mph as they cruise over the treetops and look out over beautiful Lake Tahoe . With two separate lines, riders can enjoy the experience side-by-side with a friend. At 3,300 feet, the Heavenly Flyer is the longest zip line in the continental United States . Its 525-foot vertical drop matches that of the Space Needle. From the Launching Pad, stationed at the top of Tamarack Express, to the Landing Zone, situated above the top of the Gondola and the tubing hill, the total ride time is about 80 seconds.
Winter hours of operation are 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., seven days a week, weather permitting. Summer hours are 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Rides are $30 ($20 for pass holders who present an active Heavenly season pass) and can be purchased at the Gondola ticket window or at the Adventure Peak kiosk located at the top of the Gondola. Lift tickets and sightseeing tickets are sold separately and are required to gain access to the ride. There are a limited number of rides every day and are scheduled by appointment only. Next-day advanced ticket sales are available for a $10 premium to ensure a spot is available. Riders must be at least 52 inches tall and weigh over 75 pounds, and cannot exceed 80 inches tall or 275 pounds.
During the winter months the Heavenly Flyer will be offered at Adventure Peak with other activities including cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, tubing, sledding and snowbiking. In the summer, the Heavenly Flyer can be enjoyed with a 25-foot multi-ability climbing wall and hiking trails.
