Spring Loaded Closes out Bear Mountain, Skye Peak Quad this Weekend

Your final opportunity to take a leisurely 13-plus minute ride on the Skye Peak Quad is Sunday as Bear Mountain closes for the season by hosting Spring Loaded. This annual snowboard event, featuring competition in Rail Jam, Slopestyle and Superpipe, will benefit Boarding for Breast Cancer. The Bud Light Concert Series also continues with Jedi Mind Tricks performing on Saturday, April 5. Competitor registration is open through April 3. Riders will be competing for more than $5,000 in cash and prizes. On Monday, crews will begin removing the chairs and dismantling the Skye Peak Quad in preparation for the new Skye Peak Express, which will be installed over the summer and cut the ride time to just under five minutes

This weekend at Killington we’re projecting more than 100 trails served by 17 lifts, including the Bear Mountain and Snowshed areas. Beginning Monday, April 7 through closing day April 20, the K-1 Lodge will be open daily with all services. The K-1 Gondola and the Superstar Express will operate daily April 7-20, while the Canyon Quad will operate if needed for the weekends of April 12-13 and 19-20. From April 7 through April 20, Killington will offer more difficult and most difficult terrain only. The Daily Snow Report provides current ticket prices, lift and terrain offerings through closing day April 20

April 12-13 features two of Killington’s best spring events rolled into one exciting weekend of music, sunshine and wackiness. The Sunshine Daydream Festival on Saturday, April 12 features Dead music all day long, including Playin’ Dead as the headliner. In addition to bands playing Grateful Dead covers all day, there will be a mini shakedown, drum circles and tie-dying. Festivities will be held at the K-1 Lodge from 11a.m. until 5 p.m. The event is free, and t-shirts will be available to purchase for tie-dying.

On Sunday, April 13, it’s time to bust out your clown wigs, witches costumes, knee-long surf shorts, and Mr. Zogg’s Sex Wax for Killington’s Annual Pond Skimming Contest. Taking place in front of the K-1 Lodge, competitors will attempt to skim across Killington’s man-made pond as spectators play a crucial role in determining the winners in a variety of categories including best overall skim, biggest splash and best costume. Pond Skimming kicks off at straight up noon
