KITZBüHEL KEEPING ONE STEP AHEAD
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS
Kitzbühel keeping one step ahead as an exciting resort with a healthy future Latest developments more
As one of the leading tourism destinations in the Alps, Kitzbühel is determined not to rest on its laurels. That is clear from the major innovations now in place for the coming winter season, as announced by Kitzbühel’s Director of Tourism Renate Danler. The list starts with the addition of 400 beds in the high-end hotel segment. One of the resort’s most prominent establishments is the 5-star A-ROSA Hotel, which has 100 bedrooms and 50 suites plus a 3,000 sq.m. wellness area. Another is the new Kaiserhotel (formerly the Montana), an excellent 4-star hotel with 51 bedrooms and suites which is located right next to the Hahnenkamm cablecar and has a special focus on winter sports. In total, Kitzbühel now offers more than 2,600 beds in the four- and five-star categories.
Following last year’s addition to the lift and cablecar network in the form of the spectacular 3S tricable gondola linking the Kitzbühel and Jochberg ski areas, the focus this year – in addition to the regular modernization program – has been on snowmaking. Construction of a reservoir with a storage capacity of some 180,000 cubic meters at Resterhöhe makes it possible to include another 30 hectares of ski trail in the snowmaking system this year, rising to 85 hectares in a second phase of development. In addition, the Ki-West gondola now provides access to the Kitzbühel winter sport area from Skiwelt Westendorf, while the brand-new Panoramabahn Kitzbüheler Alpen connects Hollersbach/Mittersill in the Salzburg region with the larger Kitzbühel ski area for – literally – unlimited skiing pleasure!
