Red Mountain Lodge

Nozawa Onsen -Nagano Japan

A long time, the famous and demanding Kandahar slopes were only open for competitors. Starting season 2003/2004, on certain days (except during official races) they are open to the public as well.

Since the winter season 1999/2000 virtually all courses are open to snowboarders and skiers. Only two courses (Yamabiko and Kandahar course) cannot be used by snowboarders. There is also a halfpipe at Uenotaira to make Nozawa Onsen more interesting for snowboarders.
The ski resort opened in 1924
The first ski lift was built in 1950 (this was the second ski lift in Japan)

The ski resort is completely owned and managed by the village.
Even in summer Nozawa Onsen offers a possibility to ski on plastic mats at the Yamabiko Sports Park. ( dry slope )

Furthermore, Nozawa Onsen offers two courses for cross-country skiing. Rental cross-country skies are also available.
