Jan. 13-15!

Consistent snow since about 5 this morning has given us just over 5 inches of snow as of about 3:00, and with flurries and snow showers predicted to continue for some time, expect at least another 1-2 inches on top of that by morning.

Roemer's latest update says there's a chance we could see up to 3 or more inches by Thursday, too.
This snow has allowed us to open up some new terrain too, and we'll be up to 93 trails tomorrow, with the definite possibility for more as ski patrol makes rounds and drops ropes. We'll have 9 lifts open again tomorrow, and you'll find 42 trails groomed to pefection.

Panorama's Taynton Bowl was recently featured in Explore Magazine's Canada's Coolest Escapes: 21 Places to do Winter Right. "The longest runs flow for an impressive 4,000 feet all the way to the valley floor... while the vertical is impressive, it's the light powder snow that sets Taynton apart."

Scott drops a note:
...Another perfect day! As I write this, a white orb is visible in the sky shining through what appears to be the outcome of a tear in Mother Nature’s down jacket. The miniature feathers just seem to hang there wondering whether to go back where they came from or risk landing on a snow rider’s outstretched tongue. Of the ten inches that fell in the past 24 hours, about half of them are so light that they move out of your way before you even reach them. It’s a great day to play on groomers and in the trees.

I got on the Gondola just after First Tracks finished loading and went directly to Sundown Express to see what I could find. A group was already heading down a freshly groomed Rolex, but Daybreak and West Side were still as untouched as a whiteboard on the day before school starts. High Noon to Westside was fluffy on top and firm underneath, a good warm up run, but the experience that I was looking for today was to be found in the trees.

MT Hood Summer ski camps
Snow, more snow, and continued snowy outlook. There have been more skiers and riders happy to “not” see the sun than I can remember. We have 8 feet in the base area at Timberline with over 20 feet up top on Palmer. Another 7 day storm track is moving into the picture this week. We still have our biggest snow months coming – remember we received most of our snow in 2005 after March 20th!
We believe we already have enough snow to make it through September 2006, which has peaked interest in our summer skiing and riding programs. Early sign-ups are coming in quickly and some sessions may fill up sooner than usual. Mt Hood Summer Ski Camp

Heavenly Valley
New snow on top of ,.... 4,800 acres, we are one of North America's largest mountains. At over 10,000 feet, we are Tahoe's highest. Our 3,500 foot vertical is unmatched on the West Coast. And our average annual snowfall is a formidable 360 inches. And just in case that's not enough for you, we have one of the largest snowmaking systems on the continent at the ready, covering 70% of the mountain.

Let's talk terrain. Put simply, we've got it all, from breezy blue squares to hair-raising black diamonds. There's no better tree skiing on earth. And experts will have a field day at Mott and Killebrew canyons. This is what other mountains want to be when they grow up. This is Heavenly.
Heavenly Village
Tucked between the towering mountains and the pristine lake, Heavenly Village is filled with eclectic shops, exotic restaurants, live music and deluxe accommodations. And when you feel the urge to get back on the mountain, just catch the high-speed gondola right outside your door.
