Snow alert for Alyeska
Snow alert for Snowbird

It happens! My apologies for missing yesterdays report.
Interstate 80 out of the Lake Tahoe basin was closed Sun.It's rough being stuck with
12-18 inches of freshness at lake level and 24+ on the ridges.
Sat was no sleigh ride. Wind closed many lifts with reported winds in excess of 80mph.
I call this the "EXteneded" part of the season. I know for some of you this past weekend may have been the finale for your favorite home base resort. Unfortunately, US. Forest Service permits, insurance, ans staffing issues combined play a part in some resorts closing.
Driving home, it was sad to see a favorite "playground" sitting near the Donner summit closed with a solid foot of new snow.
