I never doubt the Labrador snow report. It had started snowing earlier in North Routt but there was no denying that it was headed for Steamboat.

On my way to town, I planned my attack in my head, and it didn't fail me. First run, straight down the face of Storm Peak right between the "bacon strips" (what we call the groomed lines on the face) and continuing down to Sunset. Untracked powder all the way! Snow was fast and light nearly 8 inches of fresh had fallen. The real treat of the morning was still to come. My third run I hesitated at the top of Two O'clock, one thought came to mind, Rolex. As I skied up to it, I realized only a handful of people had hit it. They had farmed it so well that I laced a nearly untracked line from top to bottom and had the entire run to myself. Kudos to those kids, nice work leaving some for the next guy/girl.

Today's snow was fast like I said, so after a few more runs I headed over to Sunshine Bowl trees. Nothing like flying through those glades like an eight year old hopped-up on Hot Chocolate and giggling all the way.

This weekends tickets, with Alpine’s iRIDE program, where you’ll not only save money on lift tickets this weekend, you may even get the bonus $10 off certificate and decide to stay through Monday. Gas up the Hybrid, take your last few steps on the treadmill and prepare yourself for the season’s best ski weekend. Alpine is scheduled to operate 10 lifts including the Sherwood Express. Those of us glued to the temperature guage can see, last nights temperatures dropped into the chilly single digits which can only mean one thing…dry powder. Back to the beginning, pack the powder boards and head up to Alpine, skiing and boarding will be great this weekend. Back to the iRIDE program, best deal on tickets. Lastly, wear warm clothes and, oops, forgot to mention, it is forecasted to be BLUE BIRD so bring along the 45 spf
