Snow Alert - Whistler Blackcomb

***
Sugarloaf
It seems like we've had our share of sunny days and blue skies this season, but I, for one, never tire of them. And today we had the added bonus of 40 degree temps at the base and 30 degrees at the summit. Tomorrow should be similar, though we'll see a few more clouds in the afternoon.

Groomers will be out again tonight, tilling out 69 trails. The temperature will stay rather mild overnight, so things should be nice and soft tomorrow. The word on the street is that the best snow can be found on the east side.

We've got a couple of big events coming up this month. Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes take the stage on March 17 in our final Bud Light Concert Series event of the season, and we cap the whole month off with the biggest of the big, the Champion's Cross Sugarloaf Open, hosted by Seth Wescott. Bump Bash- Zermatt Mogul Competition

In the midst of the ice window blinds of the highest alpine giants, before the window blind of Monterosa and Lyskam, on 3200 meters height, where in April better snow lies than elsewhere in the high winter, there the Triftji Bump Bash had its origin more than 20 years ago, and to this place we return, with a cause, where there are only winners: Finnisher are all those, which master the 500 meters of embossment runway of the stick horns mountain station without stopping - whereby fall not when stop applies, but as bold driving insert. All start at the same time - and folds in the best way: because only few have ambitions on the total victory - all different can leave themselves time, incorporate where them probably are. To go through knows everyone, the participation is free, does not announce is not necessary. The mountain railways, which are interested in the Triftji graduation, grant a ski passport reduction of to CHF 120. - on the ski passports of 2-10 days. Watch is just as exciting - who has already in its life over 100 people at the same time an embossment runway down-driving seen? The winner becomes in the evening from the public on the basis the video photographs erkoren.

Whistler Blackcomb
Whistler BC March 9, 2007 - Like a global warming-impacted glacier, the mountain has retreated from the cities of Toronto , Montreal and Calgary .
But for one lucky winner of the Old Spice Experience contest, the retreat is only temporary, and she’ll soon be in hot pursuit of the big mountain experience.

Anne-Claire Villeneuve, of Montreal , took the Old Spice Experience when the Rail Jam hit her home-streets on February 24, and walked away with the ultimate shot in the arm - an all expenses paid trip to Whistler to experience the opening weekend of the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival in all its intensity.
Gravity-challenged urbanites across Canada had the chance to taste the adrenaline-laced tang of the big mountains when the Old Spice Experience Rail tour hit Calgary , Montreal and Toronto in the past month.
Downtown squares were transformed as the producers of the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival descended, trailing truckloads of fresh snow, jib-friendly rails and a posse of the country’s best pro snowboarders.
The Old Spice Experience Rail Tour wrapped its outreach mission in Toronto on Saturday March 3, and will now ricochet back west, to culminate in the Old Spice World Snowboarding Classic at Whistler, April 13-22, where the rockstars and gladiators of the snowboard scene will throw down for the ultimate title. For its twelfth straight year Whistler invites the best riders in the world to put it on the line for the final showdown of the season at the Old Spice World Snowboarding Classic, with Big Air, rodeo-style Stompede and Superpipe events.

“The nature of a great experience is that you want to share it with people,” explained Managing Director of the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival, Sue Eckersley. “It’s natural for us to want to bring the essence of winter in Whistler to the city streets. And it was a chance to take back “the grind”. For these riders, a good rail grind is about play and self-expression and a signature style.”
The best place to experience the concentrated essence of Whistler, says Eckersley, is at its flagship celebration, the end of season wrap-party known as the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival.
There, for ten days and ten nights, Whistler turns up the volume with 50 live concerts, major pro ski and snowboard comps, legendary arts events, burn-the-candle nightlife and the best spring skiing & riding in the world.
High-octane meets high-brow, with flagship afterdark events like the Fashion Exposed sensory assault, Pro Photographer Showdown, Brave Art exhibit, Words and Stories jam session and 72 Hour Filmmaker Showdown translating the on-hill energy of the world’s best ski and snowboard athletes into every conceivable artistic medium. Spawning imitators around the globe, the TWSSF’s legendary combination of sports, music and art makes it the ultimate showcase of mountain life.

Mayrhofen- Austria
Mayrhofen in winter, an idyllic place with a population of 3,600, nestling in a valley, before the unique and fascinating backdrop of the mining world of the Zillertal’s main peak. Numerous mountains with large ski areas and white shimmering mountaintops characterise this pristine and beautiful winter landscape.
New: "White Lounge"
In the middle of the ski resort at the Ahorn, the mountain to enjoy, nearby the panoramic platform Zillertal a special mountain adventure will open this winter: "White Lounge" - an igloo bar comletely of snow with comfortable seats inside, loungers and snow bar outside.
"Zillertal National Park": An Alpine Treasure of 80 Glaciers!
With its valley population and lively villages, the Zillertal has a lot to offer. Most outstanding however is the spectacle of nature with its majestic mountains and the Hintertux Glacier as eternal white backdrop at the end of the valley. A special gem is the Zillertal Alps High Mountain National Park.
This "area of peace" on the Zillertal Main Ridge (1,000-3,509m) extends impressively over 372 km2: the landscape is dominated by almost 80 glaciers, three large reservoirs as well as several mountain and corrie lakes, which extend over all altitudes of the inner Alps.
As well as marmots, eagles and chamois, other endangered species like steinbock and bearded vultures have also found their place in the high mountain landscape. The lateral moraines in Zemmgrund are a highly interesting geographical area in the Alps: rock crystal, cairngorm, tourmaline, granite, amethyst and hematite are among the treasures. There's a lot to see and discover in the National Park with the guided themed treks "On the Berliner Hütte Glacier Trail”, "On the Trail of Poachers” or with a torchlight trek over Pfitscher Joch.
