MAJOR SNOWFALL Hits COLORADO SKI RESORTS
Storm Drops More Than 4 Feet of Fresh Snow on Parts of Colorado DENVER, Colo. – Dec. 3, 2007– A major snowstorm swept through Colorado over the weekend leaving in its path up to 51 inches of fresh snow on some resorts. With this recent blanketing of snow, combined with early season snowfall, Colorado enters its 3rd month of the 2007-08 ski season with resorts reporting conditions of powder and packed powder.

The weather system entered the state from the Southwest and Wolf Creek was hit hardest with 51 inches of snow that started falling Thursday night and continued through Sunday afternoon, at times piling up as quickly as one inch per hour.

Silverton
Silverton Mountain received four feet of fresh snow, their second largest 24-hour snow total since opening in 2002.

Thanks to this storm, Wolf Creek and Silverton are now 100 percent open. Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort was able to kick-off the ski season on Sunday with 35 inches of new snow and now offers top to bottom skiing and riding.

As the storm moved its way across the state, resorts in Central and Northern Colorado, as well as along the I-70 corridor saw significant snow accumulations. Both Aspen/Snowmass and Crested Butte each received more than two feet of snow, with Aspen/Snowmass topping out at 30 inches. Beaver Creek, Loveland, and Steamboat were each able to add a foot or more of fresh powder to their accumulative snowfall.

With the Colorado ski season well under way, 19 Colorado resorts are open for skiing and riding including Sunlight, Eldora and Echo Mountain. Arapahoe Basin and Loveland Ski Area, the first and second resorts in North America to open for the 2007-08 season, received 8 and 10 inches of fresh snow from this recent storm. Breckenridge and Vail received nearly a foot of new snow and will be opening new terrain later in the week along with Keystone and Beaver Creek. Copper Mountain is reporting a weekly total of 21 inches of new snow with Winter Park at a weekly total of 16 inches.

A mid-week storm is forecasted for Colorado with more snowfall possible Wednesday through Friday; perfect timing as four more resorts are scheduled to open in the coming week. Ski Cooper will open on Dec. 7th with more than a foot of new snow from this recent storm. Buttermilk, Aspen Highlands and Powderhorn are slated to open later this week as well. With 10 inches of new snow, Monarch will be opening later this month along with SolVista Basin and Howelsen Hill.

With the recent snow storm totals adding up, and more in the forecast, our 'early season' conditions are quickly becoming mid-winter conditions! We just had a great powder weekend - hope you were able to get out and enjoy it! We're getting a bit of rain today, which is actually a good thing in the long run -- it will help to compact the base and set us up for a long season. With more snow in the forecast Tuesday - Friday, we'll be looking great for the Grand Opening of our new Still Creek Basin December 8th and 9th.

Our Freestyle Terrain Park Crew has been putting in the hours to get our first park of the season ready. We have a small park open on Thunder (accessible via the Pucci lift). Multiple features including flat boxes, a mailbox, c-box, s-box, mini-quarter pipe tree jib, and a bunch of natural features will be ready to roll. As conditions permit, we're ready to build our legendary parks off the Stormin' Norman lift.

All services in our Wy'East Day Lodge are operational and ready to serve you - including our Ski School, Rental/Repair Center, Black Iron Grill, Market Cafe, Ski Patrol and Guest Services. And as always, Timberline Lodge is open for your visit. The fireplaces are going, the hot chocolate is brewing, and our panoramic windows are letting in a fantastic winter view
