Fresh snow & great conditions at Treble Cone New Zealand
After a week of blue skies and warm weather the snow gods have delivered! It’s snowing down to the base lodge. The fresh fluffy layer received on Monday night and Tuesday morning has been added to today boosting the great skiing and riding conditions. The Saddle Basin has received 20-25cm (10cm today) while 20cm (10cm today) has fallen in the Main Basin. It is great seeing people out experiencing the powder conditions that Treble Cone is famous for.The Austrian national ski team have arrived at Treble Cone. They are here in preparation for the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Torino, Italy. International teams from France, Japan, Norway, Sweden and Germany are also scheduled to train, all with the goal of Olympic Gold.
Cardrona;The Burton NZ Open begins today and continues through to Sunday. The NZ Open will take place at both Cardrona and Snow Park NZ, across the valley from Cardrona. Fourteen of the Burton International team are scheduled to compete including current world superpipe champion, Keir Dillon, Olympic gold medallist Ross Powers and current women's world champion and Olympic gold medallist Kelly Clark, all from the USA. There's also a possibility the world's leading slopestyle rider, America's Shaun White will compete. This week's upcoming events:
-Cardrona is hosting the Burton NZ Open from the 11th-13th.
-Coronet Peak is staging New Zealand Masters Racing on the 11th and the Southern Cup   on the 16th!
-Mt Hutt is hosting the K Cup on 13th of August.
-Treble Cone is hosting the Base Triple Comp on the 13th of August.
-Cardrona is hosting the Browns Masters Super G on the 14th.
-The New Zealand Special Olympics training week runs from the 15th-19th of August at   Cardrona.
-The Remarks Slopestyle Series is at none other than The Remarkables on the 15th of August.
-The Base Ultracross Team Series #3 is on at Cardrona on the 16th.
