STEAMBOAT GEARS UP FOR OPENING DAY AS WINTER STORM BRINGS OVER A
FOOT OF CHAMPAGNE POWDER
With 16 inches of fresh Champagne Powder® snow falling in the past
48 hours and continuing steadily throughout the day, the Steamboat
Ski Area prepares for the kick off to the 2005/2006 season next
Wednesday, November 23, 2005.
“Year after year, Steamboat consistently receives great early season
snow and this year is no exception,” said Doug Allen, Vice President
of Mountain Operations for Steamboat. “From a steady snowfall all
morning that is expected to keep up throughout the day and into the
evening, we’re looking forward to opening for the season next week.”
Frosty says" yes the overnight temps have been cold enough to GUN the snow, however day time temps around the Tahoe basin are high enough that any snow sprayed at night would melt off quick. Thus justification ,....a financial issue and practicality.
So, until the day time highs lower, don't count on man made snow to pick up the slack on some planned opening days ( Lake Tahoe )
