PANORAMA’S PARK RIDER SESSIONS
Expanded Terrain Parks Bring Quality Freestyle Events
Photo: Cameron Archer / Panorama Resort
Panorama Mountain Village, BC – Tuesday, February 12th, 2008 – At a time when other terrain parks in the region have been downsized and aerial competitions scaled-back, Panorama leads with more terrain and more opportunity for riders to show their skills!
Panorama Park Rider Sessions, presented by Coca-Cola, fire up in time for Alberta Family Day Weekend. On Saturday the 16th and Sunday the 17th, quality riders will compete in a Rail Jam and a Half-pipe competition. Several hundred spectators are expected to watch these events, and others scheduled for coming weeks.
On March 22nd, skiers and boarders will hit rails, boxes, and table-top jumps in a Slopestyle down Panorama’s 1-kilometre long Powder Trail Terrain Park . On the 29th of March, the resort will host its second annual Big Air. After a highly successful launch in 2007, a top-field is expected to pull aerial tricks off a massive kicker. Finally, don’t miss the annual Sunpit Safari Slush Cup to celebrate the end of yet another fantastic winter season. Air and water is always an entertaining combination!
Panorama Mountain Village has invested heavily in park development and now offers riders of all abilities outstanding freestyle terrain. The parks have over 30 features, including a half-pipe, a 50ft s-box, a 40ft rainbow rail, a 16ft to 20ft flat down box, and 15 table-top jumps, including one extra-large kicker.
Running the entire length of Powder Trail, the main terrain park is divided into the upper rail park and the lower jump park. Experts riding the length of the run can hit up to 12 features with each lap. For novice riders, the upper rail park has plenty of rails, boxes, and small jumps, perfect for skill development. In the Showzone Park , riders will find a half-pipe and rail yard, with features lit for night-skiing and riding on selected dates throughout the season.
