While the rest of Kirkwood’s guests were busy picking their lines from the chair lift, nine lucky individuals were climbing aboard Kirkwood’s brand new 12 passenger snowcat, about to ski 18 inches of fresh cold powder on the inaugural cat skiing expedition to Martin Point and Two Sentinels. A coveted area beyond the Palisades at the northern edge of Kirkwood’s Special Use Permit (SUP), Martin Point is known for great snow long after the storm and offers 1,300 feet of consistent pitch, with great fall line runs through trees, open bowls and gullies filled deep with soft powder. Today’s Forecast: Snow easing to a few flurries in the morning. Accumulation 3 to 5 centimetres. High minus 5. Winds southwest 25 to 35 km/h. Extended Outlook: Scattered flurries on Wednesday with a weak trough of low pressure lying over the Southern Interior. A ridge of high pressure should give some sunshine and less chance of flurries on Thursday.

Zakopane -Poland Zakopane is a charming town at the foot of Tatra Mountains. Zakopane is situated in southern Poland. It's a city with almost 30 000 inhabitants situated at 800 meters above sea level. The best place for skiing, snowboarding and mountains clibing (what's more cheap). You can buy there some souvenirs from highlanders, including famous cheese "Oscypek". It's a very nice town with its own history and culture .

Colorado Snow - From Jennifer R.
The most recent winter storm to sweep across Colorado has left several resorts calculating snowfall amounts by the foot. Colorado Ski Country USA (CSCUSA) member resorts started reporting heavy snowfall on Friday January 23, and skiers and riders across that state have been reaping the benefits of the multi-day storm through the weekend and beginning of this week.

Resorts across Colorado continue to report new snowfall and some have exceeded the 200” benchmark. Steamboat recorded 42 inches from this storm, bringing their season total to 229 inches or just over 19 feet. In the central mountains, 33 inches of fresh snow fell at Crested Butte, pushing their season total to 202 inches.

Other Colorado resorts also enjoyed the recent monster snow dump-a-thon. Aspen Highlands saw 39 inches of new snow, Winter Park welcomed 35 inches, and Silverton Mountain and Snowmass each received 30 inches.

Aspen Mountain saw 27 inches of fresh powder and Copper Mountain, Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort, and Loveland are all steeped in 26 inches of new snow. At Buttermilk Mountain, the 13th ESPN Winter X-Games wrapped up with 22 inches of new snow on the ground. In the southwest part of the state, Telluride, having opened new terrain in Revelation Bowl earlier this season, is reporting 21 inches of new snow.

Arapahoe Bain also now has 100 percent of their terrain open thanks to the storm, which left 15 inches of fresh snow at the resort. Just outside of Leadville, CO, Ski Cooper is reporting 14 inches of winter wealth.
