CANADIAN SPRING SKI PARTY AT ALTITUDE THIS WEEKEND Calgary, AB – April 24, 2006 – Get ready to kick it up, way up high in the Rockies April 29 and 30 with hip hop band Swollen Members, during Lake Louise’s 2nd Annual Spring Episode. Say goodbye to winter and hello to spring by taking in the best of spring skiing, FREE concerts and special events at Lake Louise Mountain Resort!
Join in on the fun for this sun and snow-filled two-day event, featuring a free live concert on Saturday afternoon at the mountain base with award-winning hip hop and rap band Swollen Members. It’s also the last stop for this season’s Kokanee Freeride. Get ready for a great party!
April 29th Events Line Up:
FREE Concert Swollen Members Perform Live– 3pm Swollen Members are hands down the best-selling hip-hop group in Canadian history. Platinum-selling album Bad Dreams and gold-awarded Balance have made this group from Vancouver a household name. They have won a number of Juno Awards here at home, and created Swollen mania with fans around the world!
Shop Showdown Teams of two (one team rider and one shop staff member) from local snowboard shops will compete in the TELUS Terrain Park for the title of Best Shop! Combined scores will determine the winning team, and both skiers and boarders are welcome to participate. Registration to take place from 9 - 10am on Saturday in the Sitzmark Lounge. There is no registration fee, but all teams must register to participate.

RCR Staff Olympics Come see how much fun we have, as staff teams from Lake Louise Mountain Resort, Fernie Alpine Resort, Kimberley Alpine Resort, Nakiska and Calgary go head to head in competitions such as synchronized snow blading, snowshoeing, and more!
April 30th Events Line Up:
Lake Louise Splashdown – 3pm
Get ready to get wet! Celebrate the last days of the season by dressing up in your favorite costume and launching across a giant pool of water at the mountain base. Use your skis or snowboard, or get creative with your method of transportation – snow blades or kayaks, anyone? Prizes will be awarded for best costume, best splash and best jump! Registration starts at 12:30pm in the World Cup Room. Registration is $10 and will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. All participants must purchase a lift ticket or have a season’s pass, and helmets are required to participate. Lake Louise

JIM TRACY RETIRES FROM COACHING AFTER TWO DECADES PARK CITY, Utah (April 19) - Jim Tracy, former women's downhill head coach and a U.S. Ski Team coach at various levels from development to the World Cup and Olympics for nearly two decades, is retiring as Europa Cup downhill coach for the U.S. women. U.S. Alpine Director Jesse Hunt said Tracy, 52, announced his retirement as the 2006 season ended. He coached at Colorado's Ski Club Vail for nine years before joining the Ski Team staff after the 1986 season; Tracy was an assistant training group and World Cup coach with the men's speed skiers until taking over the U.S. women's downhill and super G program with the 1997 season. A native of California, he grew up racing in the Mammoth Mountain program and is the 1978 U.S. masters downhill champion. He was U.S. women's DH/SG head coach until the 2004 season when he was named women's development head coach for a year before taking over the Europa Cup position for the last two years. Overall, he coached at five Winter Olympic Games and eight World Championships. The glittering lineup of athletes he's coached include Olympic champions Picabo Street and Tommy Moe, World Championships gold medalists Daron Rahlves and Hilary Lindh, plus Worlds medalists AJ Kitt, Kirsten Clark, Julia Mancuso and Jonna Mendes, and, among others, Lindsey Kildow.
