Kildow 2nd in San Sicario Super G Mancuso 8th, "totally cool" with streak ending
SAN SICARIO, Italy
(Jan. 26) - Lindsey Kildow (Vail, CO) finished second Friday in a World Cup super G, avenging a downhill training crash sustained on the Olympic speed course last February that hospitalized her overnight. Julia Mancuso (Olympic Valley, CA) finished eighth and saw her U.S.-record string of top-3 results ended at five.
World Cup super G leader Renate Goetschl of Austria took her fifth win of the season - and the 43rd of her career - in 1:24.90; she complained earlier in the week after the course being too easy. Kildow's time was 1:24.99 and Mancuso was eighth in 1:26.26. Stacey Cook (Mammoth Mountain, CA) was 26th and Kaylin Richardson (Edina, MN) 27th on the Fraiteve Olympique 2.3K course.

Mancuso "totally cool" with streak ending With two in the top 10 and four in the top 30, everyone in the top 35, Hoedlmoser said the U.S. women skied well. "If this is a technical hill [steeps, tighter turns, not so much gliding], like Zauchensee or Cortina, Julia can win those races, but she needs rockets on this hill. If she has a perfect run, she has a chance to be on the podium.
"But she told me she's totally cool [with the top-3 streak ending]. She said, 'You can't win 'em all' or be on the podium all the time," he said. "Julia's realistic. She had a good run and she knows it... "Ka
ylin and Stacey had good runs, too. 'Clarky' didn't ski the top so good but she was the only one to make time on the bottom...and Libby said she felt it was a good run. With the flats, though, it's hard to pickup speed once you lose it. The women run a downhill Saturday and another super G Sunday before heading to the World Championships. All six U.S. women will be racing in Are.

LAKE LOUISE

– The TELUS Terrain Park at Lake Louise Mountain Resort has undertaken a facelift for the 2007 season. With a new staff of motivated riders dedicated to building a solid park program, the TELUS Terrain Park is starting to create a buzz in the Bow Valley and beyond.
For 2007, the Resort has allocated more terrain to the park to allow for more features and variety, and enabling skiers and snowboarders of all levels to use the features. Three major park sections have been created in the park, each specifically catering to beginner, intermediate and advanced riders.
Says Matt Mosteller, Senior Director of Business Development for the Resort, “The TELUS Terrain Park at Lake Louise Mountain Resort has a long-standing reputation for being a great place to learn for beginners while providing a challenge for more experienced riders. We’re thrilled with the development of this year’s park for all to enjoy.”
In the park, choose from nine jumps up to 55 feet, wall rides, quarter pipes, hips, as well as a variety of rails and boxes, including the “Swamp Monster”, a fifty-eight foot S-Box. The park is now fully open, and riders will be able to enjoy additional features to be created throughout the rest of the season.

2007 U.S ALPINE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP merchandise is now available in any of our retail shops located at The Hotel Alyeska. Come wear what the Pros are wearing with the latest in tee-shirts and hoodies. The Championships take place March 27 - April 3 at Alyeska Resort. For the more information and the latest events schedule visit U.S Alpine National Championships.

The U.S. Alpine Championships return to the slopes of Alyeska this spring, March 27 - April 3. The 2007 races will feature the country's best athletes, including Olympic gold medal winners Ted Ligety (Park City, UT) and Julia Mancuso (Olympic Valley, CA), along with other members of the 2006 U.S. Olympic Team and hopefully newly-crowned FIS World Champions. Alyeska Resort first hosted the U.S. Alpine Championships 26 years ago, in 1981, and most recently in 2004. It was at the '81 championships that Phil Mahre, fresh off winning his first overall World Cup Title, won the U.S. giant slalom title, while brother Steve won the Slalom. In 1989, Alyeska played host to the Junior World Alpine Championships where the U.S. team captured eight medals, including gold in super G and combined by Alaska racer Tommy Moe. The U.S. Alpine Championships are considered a right of passage for many young racers who are hungry for the opportunity to ski in front of the national coaching staff and at the highest level of domestic ski racing. The championships match the best U.S. Ski Team athletes with hundreds of aspiring American skiers looking to measure themselves against world-class racers as they aim for spots on the U.S. Ski Team.
