Sugar Bowl
La Niña is coming up and she is moving in fast. If the early snow storms are going to predict the winter, then we could be well on our way for a powder filled season. The La Niña weather pattern is often distinguished by warm winters in the Southeastern United States, colder than normal winters from the Great Lakes to the Pacific Northwest, and unpredictable winters in the Northeast and Middle Atlantic states. Nationwide, La Niña tends to bring more precipitation to the northern states and drier than average conditions in the south. A moderate La Niña during the winter of 1906-07 unleashed more than 73 feet of snow on the Sierra, which is still the all-time record! So get ready for the big one. We feel she is on her way!

Lake Louise Mountain Resort
Lake Louise clinched the #22 spot on SKI’s annual “Top 50 Resort Guide”, who described it as the “Queen of the Canadian Rockies”. Comments praised Lake Louise’s extensive and varied terrain and unbelievable views, while being light on crowds. The article noted that “many put Lake Louise on their “once-in-a-lifetime list”, with “the best views in North America.””
The top ranking resorts on the list were chosen and ranked by readers of SKI Magazine. Lake Louise was one of only 2 Canadian Resorts featured in the top 30 western ski resorts.
For the first time ever, Lake Louise Mountain Resort was also ranked #12 in Skiing Magazine’s Annual Readers’ Picks of the Best 25 Resorts in North America, sharing the list with Fernie Alpine Resort (#5). This list was generated by readers’ feedback based on the quality of snow and terrain, affordability, and nightlife.
Says Matt Mosteller, Senior Director of Business Development, “We’re so proud of these announcements, as it was readers and our guests who chose Lake Louise Mountain Resort as their favourite place to ski. We strive to provide our guests a positive and memorable experience, and they have spoken. A number of investments in facility improvements, parking enhancements, snowmaking, and grooming are just some of the initiatives we are taking and guests agree that it is making a difference.”
Lake Louise Mountain Resort is expected to be one of the first North American resorts open for skiing this winter, with a scheduled November 9th opening day.
