New Marmottes chairlift This season’s main novelty is the 6-seater declutchable "Marmottes" chairlift. Its system for braking as the chairs set off and arrive makes it perfect for children. Whatever your level, the Marmottes chairlift will take you up the slopes and allow you to reach some wonderful runs in the middle of the Espace Killy without difficulty.
You can reach the Marmottes chairlift by taking the Olympique cable car; ski as a family on the higher slopes, using pistes of all standards and get back down to the bottom of the pistes at Val d’Isère in complete safety. Indeed, so that everyone can enjoy the pleasures of skiing on the higher slopes, beginner skiers can get back to the bottom of the pistes in Val d’Isère just as easily as they left it. All you have to do at the top of the Marmottes chairlift is take the Olympique cable car that will take you back down again.

Cortina d' Ampezio Italy Alpine skiing was presented as a winter sport at the 1936 Winter Olympics. In Cortina it has always been considered the leading winter sport.
In latter years advances in technology have brought an evolution to alpine skiing by introducing accentuated skis-width differences. The result has been improved performance for competition skiers and recreation ones alike. And with it, the onset of the "carving" craze. The instructors of Cortina's ski schools are on hand whether you're starting this year or wanting to improve your technique, to exploit the potential offered by the new technology.
Cortina's ski schools have unparalleled experience and professionalism and can meet the specific requirements of every ski enthusiast. There are private lessons, the ideal solution if you want to perfect your own style, and group courses, for those who want to improve while socialising. There is competition skiing, for those who love real thrills, and ad hoc courses for children, with ski instructors specialised in teaching the youngest sports lovers www.cortina.dolomiti.org

Sugar Bowl - Ca
In 1938 Walt Disney was among the visionaries who helped pick this picture-perfect location, and placed upon it the first chair lift in California. Because we were up here first, we naturally selected the best spot.

What Mr. Disney and his fellow adventurers found was a prime location near Donner Summit; a place of precipitous peaks, steep narrow chutes and wide open bowls. But more than that, they picked a spot that receives more snow than almost anywhere in North America. On average, receiving over 500 inches of feather-light snow per year

EVENT
2009 Silver Belt Banzai
The Silver Belt Returns - February 14 & 15, 2009
The Silver Belt Downhill, dating back to 1940, was for many years considered the preeminent North American race for skiing’s elite. Racers would travel from home resorts to compete for top honors on the challenging and formidable course, always followed with a legendary celebration. The 2009 Silver Belt Banzai will keep this tradition alive, honoring past racers with the event itself while enticing today’s top skiers with the latest racing discipline, all in a festive atmosphere with live music and parties.

Starting atop Sugar Bowl’s famed Silver Belt run, skiers will test their skills on this spectator-friendly course, racing out of the gate in six-man heats with rules being to simply stay on-course and finish in the top two to advance. Up to 100 qualifying and invited skiers of all ages – both men and women – will race for upwards of $10,000 in cash and prizes, with qualifying skiers competing in heats on Saturday to earn a spot in Sunday’s finals race. Entry fees are set at $100 per qualifying racer, and free for invited racers.
