Crystal Mountain, WA – SKIING magazine released Crystal Mountain was ranked number 20. This is the fourth time Crystal has been included in this list. The Top-25 list is part of SKIING’s November “Killer Trips” issue, which provides skiers with the ultimate guide to mountain adventure and extreme terrain. The ranking is determined by two parts; the first being pro-skier and reader surveys, and the second is based on mountain statistics.
Since John Kircher purchased Crystal Mountain in 1997, over $15 million in upgrades and renovation have been made to the ski area in the shadow of Mount Rainier.
Crystal Mountain was the first ski area in the Northwest to install a six-passenger, high-speed chairlift, the Forest Queen Express in 1997. A second “six pack” and a high- speed quad were also added in 1998 and 2000. More recently, a new $6.2 million dollar, 12,500 square foot mid-mountain lodge was completed for the 04/05 winter ski season. The lift improvements, new lodge and base area renovations coupled with the amazing terrain have made this national ranking possible. “I couldn’t happier. I’m pleased that everything we’ve worked for is making a difference. More importantly, local skiers should be proud to know they have a nationally ranked ski area right in their backyard,” said John Kircher, Crystal Mountain’s General Manager.
