LALIVE REBOUNDING AFTER SEASON-ENDING INJURY STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. (April 4) - Three-time Olympian Caroline Lalive (Steamboat Springs, CO), who was used to independence and mobility during a decade on the U.S. Ski Team, is starting to lengthen the “leash” she’s been on since shattering a kneecap and suffering other injuries in a World Cup training crash.
“I’m adjusting to a different-paced life,” Lalive said. “I’m doing therapy, pilates and so forth, and I’m gonna start school soon. I’m trying to keep myself busy.
“It’s definitely a big adjustment for me, from being active in skiing to not doing anything...but it’s good, just being here in Steamboat. I’ve been able to see my family quite a bit and I’m moving forward.” Despite the time-honored saying, her third time wasn’t a charm - Lalive, 26, shattered her left patella, fractured a femur and tore a quad tendon Jan. 25 during training in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. Coincidentally, that was the day Lalive - who had been second in a downhill at Val d’Isere, France in December - was named to her third Olympic Team; instead of competing, she watched the Winter Games of Torino on television at home.

Until late spring, the glacier skiing region atop the Zugspitze attracts alpine-skiers, snowboarders, carvers, and freestylers, who also appreciate the traditional and safe descents on artificial snow. Beyond the well-maintained ski slopes, however, the Zugspitze region is a veritable El Dorado for deep-snow enthusiasts.

2-4" of snow so far this morning and it's COMING DOWN up here in Pinkham Notch! It's about 32F here at the base, and 21F at the summit, so this snow has some body to it --- it's not super wet, and it'll stick around! We're expecting somewhere up to a foot of new snow through the night, so Wednesday's going to be the Day! The forecast looks great for skiing & riding right through this week! There's definitely "something" going around in case you're starting to feel a bit light-headed, or a scratchy throat . . . Tickets are $29.50pp --- or if you just buy your season pass for 06/07, then it would be $0 to ski right through 'til closing!
