US SKI TEAM
Aerial Event Added to Deer Valley
***
PARK CITY, Utah (Jan. 8) - Deer Valley Resort will hold an additional World Cup aerials event this week during the Chevrolet Freestyle International, staging it Thursday night for a total of four freestyle competitions over the three days, the U.S. Ski Team and Deer Valley organizers said.

The Nature Valley Freestyle Cup Jan. 18-20 in Lake Placid, NY, was to have included two World Cup aerials events and a moguls competition. However, unseasonably warm temperatures forced organizers to release the aerials events at the Olympic Ski Jumping Complex, officials said.

The moguls event is still scheduled for Jan. 19 at Whiteface Mountain.
The new schedule, according to U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association Vice President of Events Annette Royle, shows:

Thursday, Jan. 11
- Moguls Finals at 1 p.m. (New Start Time)
(women's qualifying 9:15-10:30 a.m. and men's 10:40 a.m.- noon)
- Aerials Finals (from Lake Placid) at 8:15 p.m. (women's qualifying 3:45-4:30 p.m. and men's 6:15-7:15 p.m.)

Friday, Jan. 12
- Aerials Finals at 6:45 p.m.
(women's qualifying 1-1:50 p.m. and men's 3:35-4:30 p.m)
The evening concludes with fireworks and a live performance by The Samples up at the venue stage.

Saturday, Jan. 13
- Dual Moguls Finals at 6 p.m.
(women's qualifying 1-2:45 p.m. and men's 3-4:45 p.m.)
Saturday evening concludes with more fireworks and a live performance by The Wailers up at the venue stage.

"This will be an exciting week at Deer Valley," Royle said. "No resort has the experience Deer Valley has after hosting the 2002 Olympic freestyle events (and the alpine slalom) and then the 2003 Freestyle World Championships...and we're certainly thankful they've stepped up to the plate big-time to make certain the athletes don't lose this aerials events."
