Big Sky
Today's Word: Snow, snow, snow! It's been snowing here at Big Sky Resort and everything is piled high with lots of lovely white fluffy stuff! And this isn't the end of it; looks like we're set to get more during the day and on into the rest of the week. Sounds like there's great powder higher up the mountain, so what more excuse do you need to snap into your skis, especially now we have both Challenger and the Lone Peak Triple running. Current early season lift ticket pricing is: $53 for adults, $48 for juniors and college students and $50 for seniors.

Sno!zone Offers White Christmas
SNO!zone Braehead on the outskirts of Glasgow will be hosting a series of party nights for adults and kids who want more than your average Christmas bash. These proved so popular last winter they were all sold out.
Groups of up to 100 adults can go for a £37.95 party package, with a 45-minute toboggan session including hire of skiing gear and a souvenir photo of their time on the slope. The party continues with a buffet with warm spicy mulled wine or juice, followed by a four-course Christmas meal, then a Christmas DJ will keep the party going through to 1am. A second option includes the buffet and disco but without the tobogganing for £25.95. Adult party nights are staged on December 5th, 12th, 18th, 19th, and January 9th.
Packages for children include a ‘toddlers’ version for three to six years old, and another for older kids aged five to 12. The £26.95 toddlers’ Breakfast with Santa, from 9 – 11.30am, includes a 30-minute tobogganing session, a picture taken with Santa on the slope, followed by a light snack and a special gift. An adult must accompany each child on the slope and this is included in the price and the parties are staged on December 13th and 20th. Parties for older children cost £29.95, and include a 45 minute tobogganing session with a picture on the slopes and suit hire followed by a disco with party buffet and a gift from Santa. They take place from 11.45am to about 3pm, with organisers recommending a minimum of one adult per five children and parties are staged on December 13th, 14th and 20th. White Pass - Washington
After twenty-four years of planning, the path is now clear for the development of an additional 767 acres at White Pass. On September 9th, 2008 United States District Court Judge James Robart ruled in favor of the United States Forest Service (USFS) and the White Pass Company denying the Sierra Club's and Hogback Basin Preservation Association's appeal. USFS and White Pass' arguments "carried the day" on all counts deliberated. While Judge Robart's decision was open for appeal to the 9th Circuit Court, none were filed. General Manager Kevin McCarthy commented, "Appropriately, on Armistice Day, November 11th, we determined through no appeal by the plaintiffs, that the legal battle over the expansion of White Pass Ski Area came to an end. The company can now proceed with construction. This is a day we have been looking forward to for decades, and is a testament to believing in one's cause and never allowing what is right from being derailed by obstacles". Construction will include two chairlifts, a mid-mountain lodge and 13 named runs in the open sub-alpine basins of the expansion area. Plans also call for a new parking lot that should accommodate nearly 1000 vehicles.
