Timberline Lodge
Doppelmayr USA, are working with a crew from Timberline Lodge to install a new 6700 foot long high-speed quad chairlift. The new chairlift will be named the Jeff Flood Still Creek Basin Chairlift
8 new trails were cleared in the summer of 2006. An additional trail for snowshoeing and Nordic skiing is being cleared this summer. When complete, the new lift will be the longest chairlift on Mt. Hood, and will whisk riders from the bottom to top in just a little over 6 minutes. The chairlift will access approximately 220 acres of new terrain in the Still Creek Basin of Timberline's permit area. This will be the first new terrain at Timberline since 1981, giving skiers and snowboarders exciting new opportunities to explore the slopes.

The warm weather over the past couple of weeks has taken a toll on the snow conditions on the Palmer Snowfield. We've made the decision to keep the lifts closed after our current maintenance period until the snow begins to fly this winter. While this is a decision that's tough for us to make, we want to ensure that our guests have a great experience when they come to Timberline - and snow quality plays an important role in that. It's not uncommon to see storms drop snow on us in October and November. We'll be monitoring the conditions closely, and will look to re-open as soon as possible for the 2007-2008 Winter Season. Check our conditions page often for current updates. For now, enjoy the fall! Timberline Lodge will still be open for lodging, dining, and touring (including rides on our Magic Mile SkyRide). Don't forget, you'll be able to pick up your Fusion Pass beginning September 15th, so stop up for a visit and avoid the rush this winter

Timberline Lodge Art Show to Feature Works of Local Artisans
Mountain High XVI – October 3 - 23

Every other year since 1977, Timberline Lodge, with help from The Friends of Timberline, has produced "Mountain High," a public art exhibit celebrating Timberline's connection to the arts and crafts. This year's theme for the show is "In The Shadow of Mt. Hood." It will celebrate the arts and crafts of local mountain residents. Starting October 3rd and running through October 23rd, numerous works from selected local artisans will be on display in the Lodge. Longtime Timberline Curator, Linny Adamson explains it this way. "This year, Mountain High will celebrate the creative spirit of our local artisans. We are celebrating the 70th anniversary of Timberline Lodge, and we were motivated to do this by the recent PBS program Craft In America. The exhibit will showcase the creative expression of our local artisans. It will be a pleasure to bring these pieces together for display in the beautiful Timberline Lodge, and it will provide another pleasurable experience for visitors to the Lodge this Fall."

Timberline boasts the Northwest's largest vertical terrain with 3,680 vertical feet from the top of Palmer to the bottom of Still Creek Basin.

ICER AIR RETURNS TO SAN FRANCISCO ON NOVEMBER 2-3, 2007

Two-Day Action Sports, Music and Lifestyle Event to Showcase Urban Big Air Ski and Snowboard Competition

SAN FRANCISCO (September 6, 2007) – ICER is thrilled to announce the next evolution of Esurance ICER AIR, an action sports, music and lifestyle event. ICER AIR gained notoriety in 2005 by laying down 16,000 cubic feet of snow on one of San Francisco’s steepest streets and hosting a big air ski and snowboard competition. A year later, Esurance ICER AIR became the first and only stadium event in the United States. Now in its 3rd year, Esurance ICER AIR will feature a 2-day multi-sport event on November 2-3, 2007. This year’s event will take place at renowned AT&T Park, a major San Francisco landmark and home to the San Francisco Giants.

“Esurance ICER AIR is a constantly-evolving event. Each year we try to raise the bar, to do something a bit bigger and a bit crazier than we have in the past,” said Glen Griffin, ICER founder and president. “Our main mission will always be to bring the mountains to the city, showcasing some of the most amazing athletes in the world in an urban setting.”

Esurance ICER AIR 2007 will feature a big air ski and snowboard competition, freestyle motocross, skate and BMX vert and street courses, wakeboarding, 60 exhibitors, 2 music stages, and a beer garden. Olympic and X Games athletes will share the spotlight with a surprise headliner band. And with a new branded look developed by the creative house GriffixThunkit, ICER AIR has firmly established itself as a world-class event in the action sports industry.

“Esurance ICER AIR has become the official kick-off to winter as the best athletes in the world and all of the top players in the industry converge in San Francisco for one of the coolest events ever,” stated event host and Olympic Gold Medalist Jonny Moseley.

A newly designed ski and snowboard jump will rise over 10 stories in the middle of the ball park, extending over 350 feet in length and covered with over 200 tons of snow. Spectators will be afforded views of Olympic medalists and X Games champions flying through the air against the backdrop of the spectacular San Francisco Bay. The jump will take four days and more than 14,000 cubic feet of snow to build.

“We are excited about the progress we have made in the industry, to showcase these amazing skiers and snowboarders on par with other action sports stars like Tony Hawk and Travis Pastrana,” said Moseley. The big air competition is invitation-only and will feature a line-up of industry heavyweights, including last year’s champions, skier TJ Schiller and snowboarder Travis Rice, back to defend their titles. Fourteen skiers and 14 snowboarders will compete for more than $100,000 in cash and prizes.

Among the many new features of Esurance ICER AIR 2007 is the introduction of a second venue, the Village. Located adjacent to AT&T Park on the opposite side of McCovey Cove, the Village will be home to freestyle motocross, a skate/bmx park, wakeboarding, 60 vendors and exhibitors, a giant ski sale, a music stage and beer garden.
