Bear Valley Mountain Resort to Sell Historic Ski Chairs
Location: Bear Valley, CA What: Bear Valley Mountain Resort is selling a piece of its history. The resort's old Hibernation Lift is out of the ground, making way for a new high-speed quad lift that will begin operation in the 2006-07 ski season, and the old ski chairs are up for grabs.
An appropriate vehicle is needed to transport the chair (each weighs about 100 lbs and are six feet tall). Bear Valley staff will be on hand to help load chairs into vehicles. Chairs must be picked up no later than September 15th and there are no returns or refunds. When: Bear Valley's current office hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and can be purchased in-person or by phone at 209-753-2301 extension 0.
Special Saturday Sale - Bear Valley will be open on Saturday, July 22, from noon to 5 p.m. when visitors may come by the office, pay for a chair and head to the top of the parking lot to pick it up the same day. Where: Bear Valley is conveniently located on scenic all-weather Highway 4, regionally located between Lake Tahoe and Yosemite. No traffic restrictions are reported for the area. Access to the resort from the surrounding area is also available on Calaveras Transit on the Bear Valley Ski Bus.

Newly-incorporated lift systems in the South Are access new runs and trails that meander through bushy lenga forests for you to broaden the countless sensations you will be able to experience within an unparalleled mixture of landscapes. Only 10 minutes and a season pass to access the whole mountain is what you need to reach the highest point of Catedral Hill, either taking the South Way (using Amancay Cablecar) or the North Way (using Séxtuple Chairlift). You will be at 2,000 meters above sea level, where you can enjoy one of the most impressive views of the Andes Mountain Range and the Patagonian lakes. From that point, we offer 600 hectares of skiable terrain, with a 960-meter slope and a wide range of options: more than 70 kilometres of clearly signalled paths and runs, and the exciting choice of off-piste skiing.

The winter season promises to be intense when it comes to sports events, upcoming attractions, ski and snowboard races and demonstrations like Reef Boarder Cross & Big Air, the International Ski Week, the Carrera de la Historia (The Race of History), Professionals' Parallel, Children's Day Celebration, Journalists' Race, among others.

OPENING AND CLOSING
Low Season: From June 18th to June 24th, and from September 3rd to October 10th. Mid Season: From June 25th to July 9th, and from July 30th to September 2nd. High Season: From July 9th to July 29th.
2006 News New Lift Systems Six new lift systems will make up a total of 39 available lifts for all-level skiers:
Amancay Quadruple Cablecar: A comfortable cablecar with capacity for 2,000 pax/h. to reach the inferior level of the ex-Teleski 2000 from a base at 1,770 meters above sea level in only 7 minutes, ascending more than 700 meters. Diente de Caballo Triple Chairlift (2,000 pax/h. capacity), which links Amancay Quadruple Cablecar service to Punta Princesa. Del Bosque Double Chairlift (1,500 pax/h. capacity), located where former Luipe Teleski was, with a conveyor belt automatic linking system; unique in Latin America. Baby Ñandú II Lift (in Area 2000) for beginners, and Plaza II (in Plaza Oertle) and Jumbo III (at the Base), both of them drag lifts. Ro-Cat: New drag lift for advanced skiers and snowboarders to get to off-piste terrain from La Hoyita.
