TAMARACK, Idaho
The final stop on the 2007 Chevrolet U.S. Snowboard Grand Prix, the nations premier snowboarding series, is set for Feb. 23-25 at Tamarack Resort, located in the Payette River Mountains. Up for grabs is the overall Grand Prix championship, awarding a new Chevrolet Truck to the series top male and female halfpipe riders along with the U.S. snowboardcross title as Tamarack also hosts the VISA U.S. Snowboardcross Championships. Expected to compete in halfpipe are Olympic and X Games medalists Gretchen Bleiler (Aspen, CO), Steve Fisher (Breckenridge, CO) and Scotty Lago (Seabrook, NH) along with two-time SBX World Champion Lindsey Jacobellis (Stratton Mountain, VT) and two-time X Games SBX gold medalist Nate Holland (Squaw Valley, CA), a native of nearby Sandpoint. Missing from the roster is Olympic gold medalist Seth Wescott (Carrabassett Valley, ME), who suffered a broken forearm while competing in a World Cup last weekend in Furano, Japan.
"Tamarack is very excited and ready to welcome the Grand Prix to Idaho for the first time, giving us the opportunity to showcase the world-class freeriding program we have in the Payette River Mountains," said Jim Spenst, Tamarack Vice President of Operations.
When it opened in December 2004, Tamarack became the first all-season resort to open in the U.S. in more than two decades. Featuring 2,800 feet of vertical and 1,100 acres of lift accessed terrain, the resort also boasts two terrain parks and 5,000 acres of accessible backcountry terrain in addition to Tamarack's "SuperPipe" with 22-foot walls, the largest halfpipe ever created for a Grand Prix.
"It is a point of pride for us to offer pipe and park facilities that are high-caliber and worthy of challenging the top riders in the world. Between the monster 22-foot high SuperPipe, and trails that seems destined to be a great snowboardcross course, the weekend will be filled with top-notch competition. The event provides great entertainment and an opportunity to partner with U.S. Snowboarding in a brand new venue, said Spenst." After stops in Breckenridge, CO and Mt. Bachelor, OR, Fisher and 2002 Olympic gold medalist Kelly Clark (Mount Snow, VT) lead the halfpipe standings with Olympians Tommy Czeschin (Mammoth Lakes, CA) and Elena Hight (South Lake Tahoe, CA) within striking distance of the overall title. Wescott, Jacobellis and Holland are fresh off medals at both the 2007 World Championships and X Games held in January.
"Tamarack will provide the perfect venue for our final Grand Prix of the season," said series director Eric Webster. "The event has a lot of intrigue as Tamarack is a new resort and people have heard such great things about it, but have not had the chance to check it out. New venue, new state, first 22-foot halfpipe - these are the perfect ingredients to showcase world class snowboarding in a spectacular setting."
Competition gets underway Friday with halfpipe qualifications, followed by finals on Saturday and the VISA U.S. Snowboardcross Nationals set for Sunday. The halfpipe event will air on Versus Sunday, March 4 at 3 p.m. ET with SBX immediately following at 4 p.m. NBC will then air the halfpipe again at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 10.

Tamarack Schedule:

Innsbruck & the Stubai Glacier

Innsbruck - The Winter Sports Capital, twice host to the Winter Olympics offers Old World history combined with some of the best ski mountains in the world capital. The city works hard to maintain and improve its twin character as a top-class ski area and sophisticated urban center. Innsbruck, with its striking location at the foot of the Alps, offers winter guests a tempting choice of great skiing and snowboarding in six different areas.

As the ultimate winter Olympic venue, Innsbruck has hosted the world famous event twice based on an excellent variety of terrain and an impeccable infrastructure for skiers and non-skiers. The nearby village of Igls boasts the legendary men's Olympic downhill run, and stunning views of a picturesque Innsbruck below.
Free shuttle bus service links the various ski areas, and the "Super Ski Pass" is the skier's key to 310 miles (500 kilometers) of ski-able terrain and 200 lifts. The pass also covers the Stubai glacier, and even gives holders the option of excursions to St. Anton and Arlberg and Kitzbuhel.
Innsbruck is a living treasure house of history. Once an imperial capital, it embraces 800-year-old traditions adding to the authentic charm and elegance of the place. The city also has world class shopping, fine restaurants, and many sights from the historic "Golden Roof" to the fascinating Alpine Zoo.
For all people longing for the genuine winter sports fun, the Stubai Glacier is the optimum oppurtunity! On more than 50 kilometres of ski runs they may take their chance not only on intensive downhill skiing, carving and boarding, but cross-country skiing can be practised wonderfully on the alpine trail of a length of 4,5 km. 21 installations, among 4 cabin lifts, 6 chair lifts, 9 ski tows and training lifts and 2 magic carpets offer ski fans a trendous winter sports resort, and active athletes from all over the world a maximum skiing pleasure at 1.750 to 3.200 m above the sea level.

The new six person chairlift Fernau links the Fernau to the Gaißkarferner mountain. Snowboard freaks can find ideal conditions at the newly created "Boarder´s paradise" including Quarterpipes, Spins, Table Tops, Pro Jumps and a - 100 metres long - halfpipe . For carving fans there is a special run at Daunferner, regulated by a stoplight, where the feeling for bends can be experienced intensively. Two giant slalom runs and a high-speed run at Eisjochferner complete the offer for winter sports fans.

The adventurous and daring can be close to the "eternal ice" on the climber´s steps of the ice tower at Gamsgarten station, since this is an ideal training area for fans of climbing on ice. Every wednesday an introductory course climbing course takes place.
The Stubai Glacier funiculars pay a big deal of attention to the variety offered to the vacationer: starting at a professional gastronomic service, for example in the restaurant "zur Goldenen Gams" (the golden chamois), including dressing rooms and showers to sport shops with rental and storage options.

Seven Applicant Cities have entered the race to win the right to host the 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games: Sochi, Russia; Salzburg, Austria; Jaca, Spain; Almaty, Kazahstan; PyeongChang, South Korea; Sofia, Bulgaria and Borjomi, Georgia.
After Fedor Radmann stepped down from his position as CEO of Salzburg 2014 due to health reasons on Monday, 22 January 2007, Franz Klammer, the 1976 Olympic Downhill Champion and skiing legend, who was already serving as the leading Athlete Ambassador of Salzburg 2014, accepted the new role of Chairman International. After today’s executive meeting which was held in agreement with Heinz Schaden, the mayor of the City of Salzburg and Chairman of the Advisory Board of Salzburg 2014 and the Austrian Olympic Committee (ÖOC), the new role for Klammer will see him representing Salzburg 2014 at the international level.
