Celebrity guest telemarker Jonathan plunged
into Huffman's from Spur Run to see how accurate the
5am Snow Report was. I was amazed at how light the
knee-deep snow was. I could still feel the bottom. From
the top of Sundown Express we pointed it down an un-
groomed Three O'Clock where the snow was up to our
waists and the bumps only echoes of their former selves.
We popped back to High Noon just in time for our Two
O'Clock appointment. The groomed center was up to
the tops of our shins and the right side was waist deep.
For our next run, we glided under the chair just long
enough to get some cheers off the lift before cutting
across Priest Creek Lift Line and trees and back to
Three O'Clock. Launching the cat tracks at the bottom
felt like jumping on a trampoline in marshmallow boots.
For our final run from Storm Peak, we traversed to
Storm Peak North and then to Hurricane. Despite being
ungroomed, I hardly needed to turn. I felt like a surfer
ducking into a tube when I squatted down, completely
submerged in the snow. If you've never experienced
that feeling, you can simulate it by looking at a white
piece of paper and saying "FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF". FFFFFinally,
I took Burgess Creek to write this report. On powder
mornings you can expect to hear whoops of joy from
the occasional powderhound. Today, the whole ride up
sounded like a constant game of Marco Polo played by
over-caffeinated seals. The game's still going, I better
join back in.

Whistler -Blackcomb
The Turin Olympics are being seen as a major milestone for the Vancouver/Whistler 2010 Games. Whistler is celebrating alongside Turin and the Canadians will receive the Olympic Flag at the Closing Ceremony of the
Games.
The Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) broke ground last summer on the Whistler Sliding Centre located on the lower flank of Blackcomb Mountain. The Whistler Sliding Centre will house the Bobsleigh, Luge and Skeleton events and will have a proposed venue capacity of 11,650.
The legacy of the Games will live on following 2010 as the Whistler Sliding Centre will be available for training and public use. Scheduled for completion in 2008, the Whistler Sliding Centre will host ‘test’ international competitions pre-2010.
