Weather Pattern: A high pressure system just southwest of Victoria extends a ridge across the State to another high over the Tasman Sea. The western high centre will be slow moving today and Saturday before moving eastwards to join the Tasman centre later on Sunday and Monday. A weakening cold front will brush southern Victoria on Monday as it slides southeastwards
You won?t believe how good it is here at Falls Creek over on the runs in Sun Valley. You think there?s no snow, that?s not true. We?ve been skiing and boarding a wide range of runs and truly it?s looking fabulous each morning. The groomers have been working their magic and the corduroy is sweet first thing in the morning.
First thing head out and do a run on Drover?s to warm up, then hit the beginner terrain park for a few jibs. Shoot over to Nastar for a run through the trees then Main St is the next one to try. Head over to Scotts race course later in the morning where the snow is still firm as the sun hasn?t reached too high in the sky. Once you?ve conquered the race course, hit the advanced terrain park at Ruined Castle followed by a nice run down Ruined Castle itself. Grab a bite at Cloud 9, Dicky Knees or Maggies and then do it all in reverse. There?s heaps of terrain here and Falls is offering the most skiing and boarding in Victoria. The temps have been sub zero providing the snowmakers an opportunity to pump out heaps of snow this week, adding to the base. We?ve actually increased our average snow depth to 62 cms average.

First Snow
Crystal Mountain , WA- Snow fell during the early morning hours at Crystal Mountain covering the peaks creating a winter-like setting. This is very early for the first snowfall of the year, usually we see the first snowflakes fall towards the end of September and it stirs up the excitement. This early snowfall has employees very excited for another possible early start to the ski season. Last year Crystal Mountain opened November 4th, which was the earliest opening in 28 years. “I couldn’t believe my eyes when I woke up this morning,” said Kerry McCarthy of Gig Harbor “big flakes were falling and the ground was white, I thought I was dreaming.” Typically Crystal Mountain opens mid-November. There is no opening date set for the 2006-2007 ski season; it’s still too early to make that call.
