Sugarloaf
Sugarloaf/USA, The King of Spring, is crowned with more than 2 feet of snow CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine ¾ More than two feet of snow has fallen at Sugarloaf/USA since Wednesday, Apr. 4 making this week’s snow the largest April storm in more than 6 years. Since Apr. 1, the resort has received more than 31 inches of snow creating some of the best conditions of the season. Sugarloaf’s scheduled closing date is Apr. 22.
As a result of this week’s snow, more than 95 percent of Sugarloaf’s terrain is expected to be open for Easter weekend. “Sugarloaf is famous for late season snowstorms and phenomenal spring skiing but this is over the top,” said Ethan Austin, Sugarloaf’s snow reporter. Sugarloaf’s summit, including the Front Face Snowfields and possibly the Backside, are expected to open in time for the weekend. April is often the second snowiest month of the season behind March and this year is no exception. “With nearly three feet of snow already this month, conditions for Easter and the 2007 Bud Light Reggae Festival, Apr. 12-15, will be the hands down best skiing and riding in the East and among the best spring conditions in recent memory,” said Sugarloaf’s Communications Manager Bill Swain . “Unbelievable snow plus a line up of the biggest names in reggae are going to make this year’s event one for the record books.”
The legendary Barrington Levy, who is bestowed with the moniker of Jamaica ’s #1 singer of all time, leads Friday’s line up while John Brown’s Body, one of America ’s top reggae artists, will take the main stage on Saturday night. The biggest party in ski country also features the region’s top artists on four stages inside and outside all weekend long. Daytime outside music events are open to all ages. Tickets for evening performances are on sale now. Call 1.800 THE LOAF to order tickets or visit

Live music has been booming from the base area all week, but tonight's concert should blow them all away - it's the All Stars of Rock & Roll, featuring BC/DC (3 guesses which headbanging band they tribute! Hmmmm.... could it be Metallica? Just kidding!) Celebrate a fantastic winter season with one last hurrah!

Ski New Hampshire Tourism

Wednesday night brought 9-16 inches of fresh snow to NH, and last night we got another round, with up to an additional 6 inches falling! We also have cross country skiing in NH with all this new snow. The snow, is ironically, in prime mid-winter form. After this weekend look for Cannon Mt., Mount Sunapee and Waterville Valley to close their lifts for 07/08. Bretton Woods, Loon Mt., and Wildcat plan to remain open until April 15th.

Although our first thoughts are with the fresh snow, it would be wrong to not remind you of all the fun events the next two weekends at NH ski areas! This weekend you'll find Spring Fling at Waterville Valley, Splash Pond at Cannon Mt., Intergalactic Cardboard Sled Race at Mount Sunapee, Slush Pool Party at Loon Mt. and an Easter Egg Hunt at Wildcat. Next weekend you can enjoy BodeFest at Bretton Woods.

The 2nd Annual Silver Star Mountain Showdown, Throwdown; Hoedown was a huge success this past weekend. Great weather and a huge pack of talented riders combined to make for an awesome weekend in the Silver Star TELUS Park. The beer gardens and BBQ arena situated in the Park was an incredibly popular hang out and a great place to watch some super talented skiers and boarders. Vernon Toyota was on hand with some great truck displays right in the Terrain Park along Okanagan Springs who built a saloon style bar out of snow. The highlight of the weekend was definitely the FJ Cruiser supplied by Vernon Toyota that was placed underneath the second jump in the Slopestyle competition that the skiers and boarders were jumping over.

Mayrhofen- Austria
Mayrhofen in winter, an idyllic place with a population of 3,600, nestling in a valley, before the unique and fascinating backdrop of the mining world of the Zillertal’s main peak. Numerous mountains with large ski areas and white shimmering mountaintops characterise this pristine and beautiful winter landscape.
New: "White Lounge"
In the middle of the ski resort at the Ahorn, the mountain to enjoy, nearby the panoramic platform Zillertal a special mountain adventure will open this winter: "White Lounge" - an igloo bar comletely of snow with comfortable seats inside, loungers and snow bar outside.
"Zillertal National Park": An Alpine Treasure of 80 Glaciers!
With its valley population and lively villages, the Zillertal has a lot to offer. Most outstanding however is the spectacle of nature with its majestic mountains and the Hintertux Glacier as eternal white backdrop at the end of the valley. A special gem is the Zillertal Alps High Mountain National Park.
This "area of peace" on the Zillertal Main Ridge (1,000-3,509m) extends impressively over 372 km2: the landscape is dominated by almost 80 glaciers, three large reservoirs as well as several mountain and corrie lakes, which extend over all altitudes of the inner Alps.
As well as marmots, eagles and chamois, other endangered species like steinbock and bearded vultures have also found their place in the high mountain landscape. The lateral moraines in Zemmgrund are a highly interesting geographical area in the Alps: rock crystal, cairngorm, tourmaline, granite, amethyst and hematite are among the treasures. There's a lot to see and discover in the National Park with the guided themed treks "On the Berliner Hütte Glacier Trail”, "On the Trail of Poachers” or with a torchlight trek over Pfitscher Joch.
