SUZUKI PRESENTS THE US FREESKIING OPEN AT COPPER MOUNTAIN RESORT

11th annual US Freeskiing Open brings professional and amateur athletes together to compete for $60,000 in cash and prizes

Salt Lake City, UT, Jan 22, 2008–-Now in its eleventh year, the US Freeskiing Open presented by Suzuki, will return to Copper Mountain, Colorado, January 31- February 3, 2008, bringing together hundreds of the world's best new-school ski athletes and thousands of eager spectators. Athletes will compete in three different disciplines: Superpipe, Slopestyle and Big Air, for a combined $60,000 prize purse.

"Suzuki is increasingly becoming known as an active, energetic brand and maker of cars that fit seamlessly into equally active and energetic lifestyles," said Gene Brown, VP of marketing for American Suzuki. “Skiers of all levels and abilities embody the active lifestyle Suzuki embraces, and our sponsorship of the U.S. Freeskiing Open is a natural partnership."

After last year's highly progressive competition, in which Jon Olsson introduced the Kangaroo Flip in the park and Peter Olenick landed a double flair in the pipe, this year’s event will surely be a highlight of the season. As always, Copper Mountain Resort will provide an ideal après ski and nightlife scene, with Boulder band 3oh!3 bringing their heavy-hitting hip hop/rock sound to the Village following the Invitational Big Air event Saturday night.

Maintaining the tradition of athlete involvement in the Suzuki US Freeskiing Open, this year Copper Mountain's snowmaking and park crews have partnered with Snow Park Technologies to design the terrain park in conjunction with athlete input for a great Slopestyle and Superpipe venue. Additionally, a new venue for the Big Air Invitational, directly above Burning Stones Plaza, will allow Saturday night’s crowds to get a great view of what is sure to be a big show.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to help write the next chapter of the most important Freeskiing Open event in the world. We see tremendous opportunity to improve on and grow the event" said Adam Comey, president of MSI. "Copper Mountain has one of the best parks and pipes in the country, and with their new partnerships with Snow Park Technologies and Camp Woodward, the competition venues will provide a perfect opportunity for the athletes to elevate the sport to a new levels.”
