got snow ?              News from The Steep, Deep & Extreme International Big Mountain Slopes

11.02.2005

Crystal Mountain, WA-
It’s official, Crystal Mountain will open on Friday, November 4th, 2005. The Chinook Express, Rainier Express & Green Valley lifts will run daily from 9am-4pm. For now Crystal advises that beginners wait until more terrain becomes available. Food services and ski/snowboard rentals will be available. The Ski & Snowboard school will remain closed until the lower area opens. Lift tickets will be reduced due to limited operations but those rates have not yet been set.
There’s already 28” at the top of the mountain and 14” at the base. A fleet of Snowcats are currently working to pack down the snow creating a solid base for the rest of the season. The forecast shows more snow for the rest of the week and into the weekend. Crystal plans to open more lifts and terrain as soon the snow permits. This is the earliest opening in 28 years, and ski area employees couldn’t be more excited! ***

A word of thanks.
The Patrollers, Instructors Lifty's are often the faces we come across on the hill most often. Before I forget, last year in the final days of the season, a Lift Maintainance supervisor ( ALLISTER) gave me a cat Lift to a roped-off part of the Mountain. There are a lot of Hidden heros in a season that allow the magic to happen.Occasionally I throw the parking crew Twinkies for a mid morning snack, The guy ( MIKE )that grooms under the lifts, RAMPS,Thanks, the lifty's that look the other way at 4:03 p.m., Thanks, The marketing staff that shoots the breeze with me on the phone THANKS. The A.C for leaving a little around the edge, Marina Bill for keeping the Mahogony Ridge in top shape for those lunch meetings. The H-1B visitors for their diversified roles in many departments. And E. Lomar P.for that first out-of-state trip and clinical offerings. Also Paul, Scott & Jeff and the other masters coaches on Mott's below Siberia for keeping me fired up between surgeries and letting me hit the gates and "slip", for the others.
- Finally all the Marketing Managers for their part in sharing the news to a global cooperative.
