Looks like we have some cold temps coming our direction, but here's a few more details. We have a shallow arctic air mass working it's way to Montana, however, with the current direction, Big Sky should just be catching the edge. The edges are thinner than the bulk of the jet stream and as it travels southeast, we're likely to be warmer than Bozeman. Another phenomenon that is common in mountain areas is called inversion. It's a process where cold air will sink to lower areas at night after the jet stream moves through which translates to warmer temps higher up. This jet stream should pass through late Friday leaving a quiet atmosphere above us, meaning a good chance for inversion on Saturday, therefore, get out of town, warm up and go skiing at Big Sky! SAN SICARIO, Italy (Feb. 19) -- Fog and heavy snow forced cancellation of Sunday's scheduled women's Olympic super G in San Sicario. There was no immediate word on rescheduling. Heavy snow and low-lying cloud layers came into the area mid-morning, several hours before the scheduled noon start. At 11:30 a.m., race officials confirmed the noon start but changed to one-minute start intervals. Just prior to noon, the cloud layer and fog grew even more intense, with less than 100 meters visibility in the finish area. SESTRIERE, Italy (Feb. 18) - Scott Macartney (Redmond, WA) posted his best career Olympic finish as he was seventh in Saturday's super G. Daron Rahlves (Sugar Bowl, CA) was ninth, Steven Nyman (Orem, UT) was 43rd and Bode Miller (Bretton Woods, NH) did not finish his run. Norwegian Kjetil Andre Aamodt won the gold. Aamodt won with a time of 1:30.65, .13 seconds ahead of silver medalist Hermann Maier of Austria (1:30.78). Switzerland's Ambrosi Hoffmann won bronze in 1:30.98. SAUZE d'OULX, Italy (Feb. 19) - After several postponements, heavy snow in Sauze d'Oulx finally led to the cancellation of Sunday night's women's aerials qualifying. The women are now scheduled to qualify for Wednesday's finals on Tue., Feb. 21. Competing for the U.S. is Emily Cook (Belmont, MA) and Jana Lindsey (Black Hawk, SD).
