SKI AND SNOWBOARD COMPETITION, IS A HUGE SUCCESS
Thirty-Three Thousand Fans Descend Upon AT&T Park for 2 Unforgettable Days
SAN FRANCISCO (November 05, 2007) - ICER is pleased to announce the success of the third annual Esurance ICER AIR event. Building on the popularity of the inaugural event on San Francisco's famed Fillmore Street hill, skiers and snowboarders once again took on another one of San Francisco's iconic locations, AT&T Park. Esurance ICER AIR, which features the only big air ski and snowboard stadium jump in the United States, drew 33,000 spectators over two days for a thrilling action sports, music and lifestyle event on a bluebird San Francisco weekend.
"Every year Esurance ICER Air evolves," remarked ICER AIR creator Glen Griffin. "In addition to featuring the best ski and snowboard talent from around the world, this year we added an action sports village featuring some of the best freestyle motocross, skate and BMX athletes showcasing their talents.”
On Saturday, Olympic and X Games champions competed on a 110-foot high jump that extended from the top of AT&T Park’s scoreboard to second base. The jump was covered with over 200 tons of man-made snow that withstood unseasonably warm temperatures. The skiers and snowboarders wowed the crowds with gravity-defying aerial maneuvers against the backdrop of the Bay Bridge and San Francisco skyline.
Jon Olsson claimed the big air ski title with his signature, crowd-pleasing double kangaroo flip. Simon Dumont slid into a close second with a huge cork 1080 and Sammy Carlson finished third with a switch 10.
In the snowboarding competition, last year’s champion Travis Rice retained his title, taking first with a near perfect double cork 10. Tim Humphreys finished second with a switch frontside 9, and Chas Guldemond took third with a backside 1080.
The event ended with high-energy performances by Mos Def and Talib Kweli. Olympic Gold Medalist Jonny Moseley hosted the event and thrilled the crowd with multiple jumps, including an old school iron cross back scratcher while wearing Bermuda shorts.
About ICER AIR
The idea of skiing San Francisco became a reality two years ago. On September 29, 2005, 15,000 people watched history being made as ICER AIR took to Fillmore Street for the first-ever urban big air ski and snowboard competition. Realizing the potential for this type of event and always wanting to push the limits of creativity, ICER AIR creator Glen Griffin moved the jump to a larger venue, AT&T Park, and on November 4, 2006 turned Esurance ICER AIR into an action sports, music, and lifestyle experience. The one-day event featured BMX, skate, and wakeboard performances and competitions, with the spotlight on the first big-air stadium ski and snowboard competition in the United States.
The world’s most talented skiers and snowboarders launched themselves off a jump over 100 feet high and 350 long as 28,000 spectators looked on in awe. Continuing the mission of bringing the mountains to the city, Esurance ICER AIR 2007, to be held November 2-3, has evolved into a two-day, multi-venue series of events, action sports, concerts, and parties. ICER AIR intends to grow into other cities and will announce its future plans soon.

The Kristallbahn will increase the capacity for conveying guests to the glacier. It replaces the Krefelder Hut lift and enables new slopes to be opened up due to altered and extended runs. These slopes offer a weather favourable and sunny mid-alpine region for all guests. The new Kristallbahn will open in November.

Down the road
Crans Montana / CH: Winter 2007/2008 -
Construction of a new Nationale Chairlift
This time it's underway! Work started on the new Nationale chairlift at the beginning of May. The new lift, which will be up and running by next winter, will be a definite improvement to the ski area. Judge for yourselves…a longer route with its departure point level at the Marolires station to facilitate liaisons between the different sectors, a middle station at an altitude of 1'900m to reduce the consequences of light snow cover and finally an increase in capacity, from 1’800 people/hour to 3'000 people/hour, in order to reduce queues. The length of the entire journey will also be reduced by half, and will now take less than 7 minutes.
Mammoth Mountain Ski Area has begun construction on a new high-speed six-pack chairlift that will be ready to load skiers when the 2007/08 ski season kicks off in November. The "new Chair 9" is replacing Mammoth's legendary double-chair - a project that is costing $6.5 million.
The new Doppelmayr lift will whisk skiers from the Eagle Lodge side of the mountain to 10,371 feet near Dragon's Back in just over six minutes, providing access to hundreds of acres of intermediate and advanced terrain and cutting the ride time in half. Originally installed in 1969, the fixed-grip two-seat chair is famed for deep powder and runs like Dragon's Back and Ricochet. Chair 9 services the secluded and often uncrowded eastern slopes of Mammoth Mountain. The new lift will provide quick and efficient service, enable the lift to operate under more acute weather conditions and give more skiers the opportunity to enjoy some of the best terrain Mammoth has to offer.
"While we anticipate increased usage of the terrain around Chair 9, the chair upgrade will also provide more convenient access to the other side of the mountain," said Mammoth Mountain Chairman and CEO Rusty Gregory. "On busy days twenty-five percent of our skiers start their day at Eagle Lodge. We believe many intermediate and advanced skiers will use the new Chair 9 to move across the mountain quickly."
Winds can be strong as weather blows in over Mammoth's east side. The heavier six-passenger lift is being installed instead of a quad lift to allow it to operate in higher winds. The six-pack chair is heavier and more stable in the wind, so the Lift Operations team anticipates more full days of operation.

New lift facilities 2007/2008
More comfort and safety, better slopes and connections
For years the ski resorts belonging to Dolomiti Superski have been constantly working towards modernisation and quality improvement for the joy of everybody. Rather than the creation of new ski resorts, more attention has been put towards the constant improvement of the already existing lift facilities, more safety and comfort, better and safer slopes and smoother connections that do not require you to take off your skis. During the summer seven new lifts have been built (substituting the already existing lift facilities), various slopes widened to increase safety and the artificial snow making facilities upgraded. 90% of the slopes can now be reached by the artificial snow making facilities making Dolomiti Superski one of the top ski regions in the world.
